(Purpose) Enfortumab vedotin has been available as a third-line treatment for advanced urothelial carcinoma in Japan since December 2021. While the treatment is expected to improve the outcome of advanced urothelial carcinoma, concerns regarding adverse events do exist. We report here our initial experience of the use of enfortumab vedotin as a third-line therapy in patients with advanced urothelial carcinoma.

TheraStrand-SL is a seed, in which TheraAGX100 is wrapped in polyglactin 910 thread, and intra-prostatic displacement is expected to be reduced compared with that of Thera-AGX100, owing to the complex shape of TheraStrand-SL. We conducted a prospective study on the operability and treatment outcomes of TheraAGX100 and TheraStrand-SL placement by a single operator.

Despite recent advancements in HF therapy, mortality and morbidity rates continue to be high. Treatment with β-AR antagonists (β-blockers) has improved clinical outcomes and reduced overall hospitalization and mortality rates.

We thus investigated the efficacy and safety of long-term desmopressin administration and its effect on body composition.
Methods: This retrospective study, conducted at Chikugo City Hospital between August 2020 and December 2022, involved 133 men (mean age, 77.
Introduction: The seeds used in brachytherapy for prostate cancer may migrate through the surrounding venous plexus to other sites in the body, most commonly to the pulmonary vasculature.
Case Presentation: A 78-year-old Japanese man received iodine-125 low-dose-rate prostate brachytherapy. Computed tomography revealed that one seed had migrated to the right kidney.
Immuno-oncology (IO) combination therapy is the first-line treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC). However, biomarkers for predicting the response to IO combination therapy are lacking. Here, we investigated the association between the expression of soluble immune checkpoint molecules and the therapeutic efficacy of IO combination therapy in advanced RCC.

Herein, we investigated the effects of desmopressin on sleep and patient quality of life. We defined cases in which administration of desmopressin led to hours of undisturbed sleep (HUS) ≥3 hours as "marked response cases" and examined predictive factors of desmopressin treatment response.

However, improvements in physiological and metabolic parameters and changes in endocrine function associated with metyrosine administration should be validated in comparison to surgery. This study was performed to confirm the effects of metyrosine on the physiological, metabolic, and endocrinological functions of patients with pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma in the perioperative period.

However, most clinically approved drugs are effective in the treatment of HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Novel drug classes, including angiotensin receptor blocker/neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI), sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) channel blocker, soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC) stimulator/activator, and cardiac myosin activator, have recently been introduced for HF intervention based on their proposed novel mechanisms.

Case Presentation: A 71-year-old Japanese man was diagnosed with localized high-risk prostate cancer. Trimodality therapy with I-125 brachytherapy was selected, and combined androgen blockade therapy was initiated.
Nivolumab and ipilimumab (NIVO + IPI) is standard therapy for patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) is a valuable prognostic factor in patients with various cancers treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors. Herein, we determined the prognostic value of pretreatment ALC in advanced RCC patients treated with NIVO + IPI as first-line therapy.

Methods: Eighty patients (mean age: 78.
Objectives: To evaluate the effects of sarcopenia and excess visceral fat accumulation on early urinary function after I-125 low-dose-rate brachytherapy for prostate cancer.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed consecutive patients who underwent brachytherapy for prostate cancer. Pre-treatment computed tomography was used to measure skeletal muscle index at the L3 level to assess sarcopenia and visceral fat area at the umbilical level.
It is well-established that G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) transduce signals into cells using G proteins as intermediary molecules. β-Arrestins are molecules involved in regulating GPCRs; however, it has recently been reported that β-arrestins can also mediate signaling through GPCRs. Signaling through G proteins or β-arrestins can be activated selectively using specific agonists; of the latter, those that can selectively activate either G proteins or β-arrestins are called biased agonists.

In this retrospective study, we compared the efficacy of first-line molecular targeted therapy (MTT), administered as monotherapy, and IO combination therapy using real-world data of Japanese patients.
Patients And Methods: The clinical information of 202 patients with RCC who received MTT (n=144) or IO combination therapy (n=58) at the Kurume University Hospital from May 2008 to May 2022 was collected and retrospectively analyzed.
Retarded revascularization after progressive occlusion of large conductance arteries is a major cause of bad prognosis for peripheral artery disease (PAD). However, pharmacological treatment for PAD is still limited. We previously reported that suppression of transient receptor potential canonical (TRPC) 6 channel activity in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) facilitates VSMC differentiation without affecting proliferation and migration.

Case Presentation: A 75-year-old man had visited our hospital with complaints of dysuria. Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate was performed for benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Agonists are defined as the ligands that activate intracellular signaling and evoke cellular responses. Synthetic and endogenous agonists should bind specific amino acids to activate G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). Agonists that induce maximal responses are full agonists.

Material And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 334 patients treated for localized prostate cancer with low-dose-rate brachytherapy. Bio-chemical relapse-free survival, cause-specific survival, and overall survival were evaluated using Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test.
To analyze the risks and survival outcomes of non-definitive therapy (nDT) for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), which may provide useful information for future treatment selection, the present study analyzed 124 patients who were diagnosed with MIBC (cT2-4aN1-2M0) and treated at Kurume University Hospital (Kurume, Japan) with definitive therapy (DT; including radical cystectomy and trimodal therapy) or nDT [transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) monotherapy or TURBT plus chemotherapy]. Differences in survival outcomes between the two groups were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and analyzed using the log-rank test. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used for multivariate analysis of each survival outcome.

The present study aimed to investigate the preoperative factors that predict PSM and the significant predictive factors for BCR in cases with PSM. In addition, it was examined whether documenting the GS of the tumor at the margin in pathological reports is useful as a predictive factor for BCR.
