Evaluation of platelet function using PFA-100® in patients treated with Acetylsalicylic acid and qualified for Trauma and Orthopedic surgery procedures.

Unlabelled: The phenomenon of high on-acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) treatment platelet (PLT) reactivity - HATPR - and its clinical implications have not been fully understood. Little data is available on assessing PLT activity based on the severity of intra- and postoperative bleeding in a population of orthopedic patients with normal closure time (CT) measured by a PLT function analyzer PFA-100®, despite being given long-term ASA therapy. The aim is to assess PLT function using PFA-100® in patients with ASA therapy and qualified for trauma and orthopedic surgery procedures.

[Anaesthesia in patients with arthrogryposis].

Arthrogryposis is a rare congenital syndrome, characterised by multiple joint contractures. Children suffering from this disease often need surgical interventions to correct musculoskeletal abnormalities. Among problems which may be encountered are a difficult airway, myopathy, difficulties with peripheral iv placement, and the possibility of intraoperative hyperthermia.

Late Dysphagia and dyspnea as complications of esophagogastroduodenoscopy in delayed pressure urticaria: case report.

Delayed pressure urticaria (DPU) is characterized by swelling in the area of sustained pressure on the skin. The reported case was a potentially life-threatening complication due to mucosal edema following esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD). A 37-year-old man, suffering from severe DPU and chronic spontaneous urticaria, had undergone EGD due to dyspeptic symptoms.

Prospective study of nosocomial fungal meningitis in children--report of 10 cases.

Within an 8-year period, 10 cases of fungal nosocomial meningitis in children 0-13 y old were prospectively identified, 3 caused by yeasts other than Candida spp. (Rhodotorula rubra, Aureobasidium mansoni, Clavispora lusitaniae) and 7 by Candida albicans. Seven patients survived.
