Introduction: With nearly 1,612,505 industrial workers in Karnataka, controlling hypertension among them is necessary to reduce subsequent non-communicable diseases (NCDs). However, information on prevalence, incidence, and risk for hypertension among industrial workers is limited.
Objectives: To estimate the prevalence, incidence proportion, incidence rate, and risk for hypertension among annual medical examination [AME] attendee cohort between 2010 and 2014 in an automobile industry in India.
Context: Occupational health surveillance in India, focused on notifiable diseases, relies heavily on periodic medical examination, and isolated surveys. The opportunities to identify changes in morbidity patterns utilizing data available in workplace on-site clinics is less explored in India context.
Aims: Present paper describes longitudinal assessment of morbidity patterns and trends among employees seeking care in occupation health clinic (OHC).
Background: Noncommunicable disease (NCDs), psychological, substance use disorders, and stress-related issues have been less understood in Indian industrial settings. Systems for screening and early identification of the above have not been integrated in workplaces, nor there is a strong regulatory backing for the same.
Aim: To explore the feasibility of integrating mental health and select NCD risk factor screening with the periodical medical examination of employees.
