Background: Conventional epidurography (CE) is thought to have insufficient usefulness on percutaneous epidural adhesiolysis (PEA). We aimed to evaluate the association between the outcome of PEA and cone-beam computed tomography-reformatted epidurography (CBCT-RE).
Methods: After ethics board approval and written informed consent were obtained, we performed 30 PEA in 26 participants, and evaluated their post-PEA image findings.
Background Context: Chromodiscography is an integral part of full-endoscopic discectomy (FED), comprising ordinary discography with radiopacity produced by contrast medium and intradiscal stain for visualizing annular defects in the endoscopic field. Nevertheless, concerns remain about the cytotoxicity of the stains used. The study of their staining efficacy is also lacking.

This study aims to determine the pull-out strength, stiffness and failure pull-out energy of cement-augmented, cannulated-fenestrated pedicle screws in an osteoporotic cadaveric thoracolumbar model, and to determine, using synthetic bone samples, the extraction torques of screws pre-filled with cement and those with cement injected through perforations. Radiographs and bone mineral density measurements from 32 fresh thoracolumbar vertebrae were used to define specimen quality. Axial pull-out strength of screws was determined through mechanical testing.

We aimed to identify risk factors for nonunion in patients with both displaced and nondisplaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures treated with three 7-mm parallel cannulated screws, placed in either a triangle or an inverted triangle configuration, using failure of fixation as the primary outcome.
Methods: Clinical and radiographic data for patients with intracapsular femoral neck fractures treated with either triangle fixation (one proximal screw and two distal screws) or inverted triangle fixation (two proximal screws and one distal screw), between January 1, 2000, and July 30, 2009, were analyzed.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: The aim of this study was to compare the initial fixation strength of tendon grafts between different sizes of bioabsorbable interference screws (BioScrew; Linvatec, Largo, FL) with bioabsorbable bead (EndoPearl; Linvatec) augmentation through biomechanical analysis of a porcine femoral bone model.
Methods: Forty pairs of porcine femurs and porcine flexor digitorum profundus tendons were divided into control and study groups. In the control group 8 x 30-mm BioScrews alone (n = 10) were inserted, whereas different sizes of BioScrews, measuring 7 x 30 mm (n = 10), 8 x 30 mm (n = 10), and 9 x 30 mm (n = 10), with 8-mm EndoPearl augmentation were inserted individually for fixation of tendon grafts in the study groups.
A 26-year-old man was involved in a motorcycle accident and presented with an anterior hip dislocation. After a closed reduction, the hip showed a nonconcentric reduction. With an open reduction, an inverted anterosuperior labrum with avulsed osteocartilage was found, which prohibited the concentric reduction of the hip joint.

The main principle for treatment of ankle fractures is anatomic reduction until bony union is achieved. Old fractures of the ankle with residual diastasis, however, may cause persistent pain, joint effusion, and range-of-motion limitation, and make eventual ankle arthrodesis inevitable. Restoration of the integrity of the ankle mortise is the determining factor for successful repair of this type of ankle fracture.
