To analyze whether different volumes of tissue resected during transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) would associate with the subsequent development of prostate cancer.This population-based retrospective cohort study recruited 49,206 patients with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) undergoing TURP between 2005 and 2012. Patients were recruited from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database.

Comparison of sevoflurane versus propofol under auditory evoked potential monitoring in female patients undergoing breast surgery.

Background: General anesthesia is used for most major surgeries, and the most common side effects include headache, nausea, vomiting, and sore throat. Major breast surgery is associated with a high incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). We compared the postoperative nausea and vomiting of propofol-based total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) and sevoflurane (SEVO) anesthesia under auditory evoked potential (AEP) monitoring in female patients undergoing breast surgery.

Cross-mapping ICNP terms with Taiwanese gynecological nursing records.

Cross-mapping the terms of International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP) with the handwritten nursing records of gynecological patients at one district of private teaching hospital in the south of Taiwan was conducted in July and August, 2004. The purpose of this study was to validate the applicability of ICNP for electronic nursing records in a gynecological setting. A Chinese version of the ICNP beta 2 browser was used to code nursing record sentences.

Developing an instrument to measure quality of life of patients with hyperhidrosis.

Quality of life (QOL) is an index of the state of wellness of an individual. The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument to measure quality of life of patients with hyperhidrosis. With a multi- dimensional model of QOL as the conceptual framework for instrument development, the study started from literature review which was followed by interviews with patients, staff nurses, and doctors to generate the original items for the instrument.
