Purpose: This study presents an abnormality of the musculus rectus capitis posterior minor (RCPmi) as a new etiological factor for nontraumatic sagittal plane instability in the C0-C1-C2-complex, with a focus on identifying the absence or atrophy of RCPmi on both sides.
Methods: A 36-year-old male patient presented with recurring neck pain (VAS 8/10) and tingling paresthesia in the entire left hand over a six-month period, without significant neurological deficits. Radiated arm pain was not reported.
Introduction: Traumatic lumbar disc herniation (TLDH) without fracture in the motion segment is a rare occurrence compared with degenerative herniation.
Research Question: This study provides a systematic discussion of various aspects related to the diagnosis of TLDH.
Material And Methods: This review includes 12 cases of TLDH with MR-images since 2009 published in the PubMed and one adjunct illustration.

Notch signaling, which plays a key role in regulating intestinal stem cell maintenance, has been implicated in a number of cancers. The kinase Dclk1 labels epithelial post-mitotic tuft cells at the squamo-columnar junction (SCJ), and has also been proposed to contribute to epithelial tumor growth.

Notch signaling maintains stem cells in the gastrointestinal tract and is dysregulated during carcinogenesis. We explored the relationship between Notch signaling and goblet cell maturation, a feature of BE, during EAC pathogenesis.

Methods: Using data from the 'rTMS for the Treatment of Negative Symptoms in Schizophrenia' (RESIS) trial we examined the impact of rTMS on PANSS total, general, positive and negative symptoms among participants on clozapine. rTMS was applied to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) for five treatment sessions/week for 3-weeks as augmentation for patients with a predominant negative syndrome of schizophrenia, as rated on PANSS.

Objective: This study served to establish German norms for the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire self-report (SDQ-S) by using data from a representative epidemiological sample from the German National Health Interview and Examination Survey for Children and Adolescents (KiGGS study). Although the German version of the SDQ has been widely used and normative data for the parent version (SDQ-P) exist, no German norms for the self-report version have been reported, so that practitioners had to rely on the available British norms. In addition, we investigated whether sex- and age-specific norms are necessary.

The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) has been used as outcome parameter in several previous rTMS trials, but studies focusing on PANSS factor analyses are lacking. For this purpose, we used the available PANSS data of the 'rTMS for the Treatment of Negative Symptoms in Schizophrenia' (RESIS) trial to calculate different literature-based PANSS factors and to re-evaluate the impact of rTMS on negative symptoms in this trial.

The Dysregulation Profile (DP) can be considered as a broader phenotype of emotional dysregulation, including affect, cognition and behaviour. Since mood dysregulation may persist, but differently in boys and girls, the gender associated course needs to be considered longitudinally to gain a better insight in order to support the children more adequately.

The structure elucidation of 1 was performed with the aid of mass spectrometry, high field NMR experiments, and crystal structure analysis.

The ability of G. vaginalis to form biofilms contributes to the high rates of recurrence that are typical for BV and which unfortunately make repeated antibiotic therapy inevitable.

In contrast, the structurally related sorazinones A (5) and B (6) were isolated from Sorangium cellulosum strain Soce895, which was known as the producer of the antibiotic thuggacin A. The extract also contained methyl indole-3-carboxylate (4).

HRESIMS, NMR, and X-ray crystallographic analysis was used in the structure elucidation including the absolute configuration of pyrronazol A (1).

Structure elucidation of the compounds revealed a cyanopeptolin-like skeleton, containing the characteristic amino-hydroxy-piperidone (Ahp)-heterocycle. Like the cyanopeptolins, the myxobacterial crocapeptins proved to be serine protease inhibitors.

The subject of this retrospective study was the analysis of tumour free survival, risk and prognostic factors of sarcoma patients treated by limb sparing techniques or amputation. We included 118 patients with soft tissue sarcoma of the extremities treated primarily or secondarily at our institution between 1990 and 2008 with a minimum follow-up of 12 months.

Apicularen belongs to the novel inhibitor family of the benzolactone enamides, which are highly potent but feature the unique characteristic of not inhibiting V-ATPases from fungal sources. In this study we specify, for the first time, the binding site of apicularen within the membrane spanning V(O) complex.

Methods: The potential role of QUIXIL(®), a fibrin sealant used in orthopaedic surgery to control blood loss and avoid blood transfusions in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty was evaluated in a prospective randomized trial with twenty-four patients diagnosed with primary osteoarthritis of the knee.
Results: Results showed that application of 2 ml QUIXIL(®) adds costs to treatment without reducing the number of transfused red blood cell counts and postoperative haemoglobin loss.
Purpose: New aspects like acetabular overcoverage, acetabular retroversion and proximal femoral head-neck dysplasia have been detected as a main cause of osteoarthritis. The study addresses the detection of reasons for osteoarthritis requiring THA in young adults. We wanted to prove the hypothesis that idiopathic reasons play an overestimated role in osteoarthritis in young patients.
