Introduction: Hemorrhagic transformation (HT) is a severe complication in patients with acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion (AIS-LVO) after endovascular treatment (EVT). We hypothesize that asymmetry of the internal cerebral veins (ICVs) on baseline CT angiogram (CTA) may serve as an adjunctive predictor of HT.

Methods: We conducted a study on consecutive AIS-LVO patients from November 2020 to April 2022.

Background: Thrombus enhancement sign (TES) has emerged as a potential imaging biomarker in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) undergoing endovascular thrombectomy (EVT).

Objective: To evaluate the prognostic value of TES on 90-day mortality and functional outcomes.

Methods: We conducted a prospective, two-center study involving 323 patients with AIS treated with EVT.

Background: The regulatory role of the apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4 allele in the clinical manifestations of spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the APOE ε4 allele on cognitive and motor functions in SCA3 patients.

Methods: This study included 281 unrelated SCA3 patients and 182 controls.

Background: Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) has been proved to be a highly effective therapy to treat acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion. Often, the ischemic core extent on baseline imaging is an important determinant for endovascular treatment eligibility. However, computed tomography (CT) perfusion (CTP) or diffusion-weighted imaging may overestimate the infarct core on admission and, consequently, smaller infarct lesions called "ghost infarct cores.

Background: Noninvasive evaluation of the status of cerebral arteriole perfusion remains a practical challenge in murine stroke models, because conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is no longer capable of capturing these very small vessels.

Purpose: To investigate the feasibility of ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide particles (USPIO)-based susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI)-MRI (USPIO-SWI) and T2* map-MRI (USPIO-T2* map) for monitoring angiographic perfusion in stroke rats.

Study Type: A preclinical randomized controlled trial.

Primary familial brain calcification (PFBC) is a rare neurological disorder. Mutations in five genes (SLC20A2, PDGFRB, PDGFB, XPR1, and MYORG) have been linked to PFBC. Here, we used SYBR green-based real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay and denaturing high-performance liquid chromatography analysis to detect copy number variants (CNVs) in 20 unrelated patients with PFBC, negatively sequenced for the five known genes.
