The human gut microbiota is a complex and dynamic community of microorganisms, that influence metabolic, neurodevelopmental, and immune pathways. Microbial dysbiosis, characterized by changes in microbial diversity and relative abundances, is implicated in the development of various chronic neurological and neurodegenerative disorders. These disorders are marked by the accumulation of pathological protein aggregates, leading to the progressive loss of neurons and behavioural functions.
