Platelet-rich plasma injection for the treatment of chronic Achilles tendinopathy: A meta-analysis.

Background: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is used as an alternative therapy to reduce pain and improve functional restoration in patients with Achilles tendinopathy (AT). We evaluated the current evidence for the efficacy of PRP as a treatment for chronic AT.

Methods: The PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and The Cochrane Library databases were searched for articles on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared the efficacy of PRP with that of with placebo injections plus eccentric training as treatment for AT.

Comparison of AO Titanium Locking Plate and Screw Fixation versus Anterograde Intramedullary Fixation for Isolated Unstable Metacarpal and Phalangeal Fractures.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the clinical and radiologic outcomes of AO titanium locking plate and screw (ATLPS) and anterograde intramedullary (AIM) fixation for treating unstable metacarpal and phalangeal fractures.

Methods: Adult patients with isolated fresh unstable metacarpal and phalangeal fractures who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled into this prospective study from July 2013. Patients were divided into ATLPS or AIM groups when they were admitted to our department after considering their work requirement, fracture complexity, and surgeon's experience and were then treated accordingly.

Femoral Condyles Tangential Views: An Effective Method to Detect the Screw Penetration of Femoral Condyles After Retrograde Nailing.

Background: Postoperative knee soft tissue irritation is a common complication after retrograde nail fixation of femoral fractures. Distal locking screw prominence is one of the causes for soft tissue irritation. This study aimed to determine whether the use of the femoral condyles tangential views improve the diagnostic accuracy compared with anteroposterior (A-P) view in detecting distal locking screw penetrations during retrograde femoral nailing.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small non‑coding RNAs, which function as critical gene regulators by targeting mRNAs for translational repression or degradation, and they are essential in cancer development and progression. Several previous studies have indicated that abnormal expression of miRNAs occurs frequently in human osteosarcoma (OS) tissues compared with that of adjacent normal tissues. In the present study, the role of miR‑214 in the progression and metastasis of OS was investigated.

[Analysis of epidemiological features of pelvic fracture].

Objective: To investigate the epidemiological features of patients with pelvic fractures.

Methods: The data of patients with pelvic fractures treated between 2003 and 2007 at our hospital were collected and analyzed through the PACS system and case reports checking system. And analytic items included gender, age, injured sites and type of AO or Young-Burgess classification.

[Epidemiological investigation of adult metatarsal fractures].

Objective: To investigate retrospectively the adult metatarsal fractures within last five years and analyze their epidemiological characteristics.

Methods: The X-ray films taken from January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2007 at department of radiology of Hebei provincial orthopedic hospital were reviewed to screen and classify according to OTA fracture comprehensive classification method. The epidemiological characteristics of adult metatarsal fractures were summarized and analyzed.
