Li-O batteries (LOBs) boast an exceptionally high theoretical energy density; however, the slow kinetics of the oxygen electrode reaction have been a significant hurdle in their advancement and practical application. In this study, a composite of bismuth oxyhalide heterojunction incorporated with metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) was engineered on carbon cloth (Zr-MOF/BiOIBr/CC) as an efficient bifunctional catalyst to enhance the oxygen electrode reaction in photo-assisted LOBs. Compared to Zr-MOF/CC, Zr-MOF/BiOIBr/CC significantly expands the light absorption spectrum of the catalyst.

The practical application of rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) has been severely hindered by detrimental dendrite growth, uncontrollable hydrogen evolution, and unfavorable side reactions occurring at the Zn metal anode. Here, we applied a Prussian blue analogue (PBA) material KZn(Fe(CN)) as an artificial solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), by which the plentiful -C≡N- ligands at the surface and the large channels in the open framework structure can operate as a highly zincophilic moderator and ion sieve, inducing fast and uniform nucleation and deposition of Zn. Additionally, the dense interface effectively prevents water molecules from approaching the Zn surface, thereby inhibiting the hydrogen-evolution-resultant side reactions and corrosion.

Among all types of renal cancer, clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common and lethal subtype and is associated with a high risk of metastasis and recurrence. Histone modifications regulate several biological processes that are fundamental to the development of cancer. Lysine methyltransferase 5C (KMT5C; also known as SUV420H2) is an epigenetic modifier responsible for the trimethylation of H4K20, which drives critical cellular events, including genome integrity, cell growth and epithelial‑mesenchymal transition (EMT), in various types of cancer.

In recent years, the environmental health issue of microplastics has aroused an increasingly significant concern. Some studies suggested that exposure to polystyrene microplastics (PS-MPs) may lead to renal inflammation and oxidative stress in animals. However, little is known about the essential effects of PS-MPs with high-fat diet (HFD) on renal development and microenvironment.

Recent studies have discovered that tiny particles of microplastics (MPs) at the nano-scale level can enter the body of organisms from the environment, potentially causing metabolic ailments. However, further investigation is required to understand the alterations in the immune microenvironment associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) occurrence following exposure to MPs. Experiments were performed using mice, which were given a normal chow or high-fat diet (NCD or HFD, respectively) plus free drinking of sterile water with or without MPs, respectively.

The manipulation of electronic structure and prevention of photogenerated carriers from being quenched in bulk defects during the photocatalytic CO reduction reaction (CRR) have been effectively demonstrated through surface vacancy and defect engineering. In this work, the electronic structure on the surface of ZnInS/ZnS (ZIS/ZnS) is significantly modified by the introduction and control of the surface S vacancies (S) through Ar-plasma treatment. EPR and XPS analyses confirmed that S was exclusively present on the ZIS/ZnS surface.

Unlabelled: The pathologic significance of the circular RNA DDIT4 (circDDIT4), which is formed by backsplicing at the 3'-untranslated region (UTR) with a 5' splice acceptor site in exon 2 of linear DDIT4 mRNA, has yet to be determined. Our study found that circDDIT4 is downregulated in prostate cancer and functions as a tumor suppressor during prostate cancer progression. By competitively binding to ELAV-like RNA binding protein 1 (ELAVL1/HuR) through its 3'-UTR, circDDIT4 acts as a protein sponge to decrease the expression of prostate cancer-overexpressed anoctamin 7 (ANO7).

Most of the existing photocatalysts can only use ultraviolet light and part of visible light, so broadening the spectrum response range and realizing the full spectrum coverage are key measures to improve the solar-to-hydrogen (STH) efficiency of photocatalytic water splitting. A spatially separated photothermal coupled photocatalytic (PTC) reaction system was designed using carbonized melamine foam (C-MF) as a substrate to absorb visible and infrared light and CuInZnS@Ru (CIZS@Ru) as a photocatalyst to absorb UV-visible light (UV-vis). By comparing the three modes of bottom, liquid level, and self-floating, it is found that the surface temperature of the system has a significant effect on the hydrogen evolution activity.

As an attractive semiconductor photocatalyst, (CuInS)-(ZnS) has been intensively studied in photocatalysis, due to its unique layered structure and stability. Here, we synthesized a series of CuInZnS photocatalysts with different trace Cu-dominated ratios. The results show that doping with Cu ions leads to an increase in the valence state of In and the formation of a distorted S structure, simultaneously inducing a decrease in the semiconductor bandgap.
