Prevalence of Smoking Among 4 Licensed Types of Nursing Personnel in Japan: An Epidemiological Study.

There is a high prevalence of smoking among nursing personnel, despite the fact that nursing is a health care profession. In Japan there are 4 types of licensed nursing professionals. However, the prevalence of smoking among different types of licensed personnel has not been clarified.

Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution on dye-sensitized mesoporous carbon nitride photocatalyst with magnesium phthalocyanine.

Spectral sensitization of a mesoporous graphite carbon nitride (mpg-C(3)N(4)) photocatalyst was investigated by depositing magnesium phthalocyanine (MgPc) to expand the absorption to wavelengths longer than those of the principal mpg-C(3)N(4). The obtained sample, MgPc/Pt/mpg-C(3)N(4) (Pt as a cocatalyst) showed stable photocatalytic evolution of hydrogen from aqueous solution in the presence of sacrificial reagents (triethanolamine), even under irradiation at wavelengths longer than 600 nm. Increasing the amount of MgPc led to ordered MgPc aggregation on the photocatalyst surfaces.

Hydrodynamic selection of the kinetic pathway of a polymer coil-globule transition.

Recently, the role of hydrodynamic interactions in the selection of a kinetic pathway for phase transitions has attracted considerable attention. Here we study this problem numerically by taking as an example a coil-globule transition of a single polymer, which is a prototype model of protein folding. When a swollen polymer collapses into a globule state, hydrodynamic interactions accelerate the transition.

Scattering functions of knotted ring polymers.

We discuss the scattering function of a Gaussian random polygon with N nodes under a given topological constraint through simulation. We evaluate the form factor PK(q) of a Gaussian polygon of N = 200 having a fixed knot K for some different knots such as the trivial, trefoil, and figure-eight knots. Here the Gaussian polygons with different knots K have distinct values of the mean-square radius of gyration, R2(G,K).

Estimation of 24-h urinary sodium excretion using lean body mass and overnight urine collected by a pipe-sampling method.

Objective: To investigate the possibility of estimating Na24 using pipe-sampling of overnight urine and lean body mass.

Participants And Methods: Body height, body weight and body fat determined by bioelectrical impedance (lean body mass = body weight body fat) was measured in 351 healthy individuals (126 men, 225 women).
