This study investigated the associations between in-person and remote engagement and self-rated happiness in older adults aged 50 years and above in three cognitive function subgroups: Normal Cognition, Cognitive Impairment not Dementia (CIND), and Dementia. Data were obtained from the 2014 Health and Retirement Study. Results showed that remote engagement was significantly associated with higher self-rated happiness, particularly in the CIND group.

Dietary variety is associated with some health outcomes among older adults. Rural areas, however, often have difficulty accessing health information that influences dietary variety. This study aimed to identify patterns of health information sources by using latent class analysis and assess their association with dietary variety among older adults aged ≥ 75 in rural Japan (n = 411).

We examined the improvement effect of working through the Silver Human Resources Center (SHRC) on pre-frailty among older people in Japan.
Methods: We carried out a two-year longitudinal survey from 2017 to 2019.
