Background Postpartum depression (PPD) is the most prevalent psychological disorder after childbirth associated with a negative impact on the daily functioning of mothers and the cognitive development of infants. Inequitable primary mental health access in lower-middle-income countries (LMICs) further aggravates this major public health problem. Objective The objective of this study is to estimate the prevalence and determinants of PPD among women reporting to secondary care facilities in Delhi, India.

Aim: To find out the association of secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC)-related modular calcium binding 2 () gene variants rs2255680 and rs13208776 with genotypic and phenotypic characteristics in both familial and non-familial primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) patients.

Methods: A total of 212 POAG patients, comprising 124 familial and 88 non-familial, were enrolled. For genotyping the variant rs2255680, amplification refractory mutation system (ARMS)-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method and PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) were utilized for analyzing rs13208776 variant.

The cannabinoid receptor 1 (CBR) regulates synaptic transmission in the central nervous system, but also has important roles in the peripheral organs controlling cellular metabolism. While earlier generations of brain penetrant CBR antagonists advanced to the clinic for their effective treatment of obesity, such molecules were ultimately shown to exhibit negative effects on central reward pathways that thwarted their further therapeutic development. The peripherally restricted CBR inverse agonists MRI-1867 and MRI-1891 represent a new generation of compounds that retain the metabolic benefits of CBR inhibitors while sparing the negative psychiatric effects.

Purpose: The present study was carried out to evaluate the radioprotective activities of N-acetyl-L-tryptophan (L-NAT) using rodent and non-human primate (NHP) models.

Materials And Methods: The antagonistic effect of L-NAT on the Transient receptor potential vanilloid-1 (TRPV1) receptor and substance P inhibition was determined using molecular docking and Elisa assays. The in radioprotective activity of L-NAT was evaluated using whole-body survival assays in mice and NHPs.

In recent years, scientific communities have been concerned about the potential health effects of periodic electromagnetic field exposure (≤1 h/d). The objective of our study is to determine the impact of extremely low-frequency pulsed electromagnetic fields (ELF-PEMF) (1-3 mT, 50 Hz) on mouse fibroblast (red fluorescent protein (RFP)-L929) cells and adult Wistar rats to gain a comprehensive understanding of biological effects. We observed that RFP-L929 exhibits no significant changes in cell proliferation and morphology but mild elevation in aspartate aminotransferases, alanine aminotransferases, total bilirubin, serum creatinine, and creatine kinase-myocardial band levels in ELF-PEMF exposed groups under in vitro and in vivo conditions.

Introduction: Replacement of lost soft and hard tissues of the human body has always been a daunting task across all surgical specialties. Reconstruction of a cranial deformity is challenging due to the functional and cosmetic requirements. A major constraint with large cranial bony deformity reconstruction is the nonavailability of graft of a specific shape and size.

Dopamine, one of the most important neurotransmitters, plays a crucial role in the functions of human metabolism, as well as the cardiovascular, central nervous and hormonal systems. This study focuses on the synthesis of nanostructured silver chromate and their application in dopamine sensing. The nanoparticles were synthesized using a complexation-mediated route using aminosalicylic acid as a stabilizer, resulting in uniform particles ranging from 3 to 15 nm in size.

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) play a pivotal role in regulating numerous physiological processes through their interactions with two key effectors: G proteins and β-arrestins (βarrs). This makes them crucial targets for therapeutic drug development. Interestingly, the evolving concept of biased signaling where ligands selectively activate either the G proteins or the βarrs has not only refined our understanding of segregation of physiological responses downstream of GPCRs but has also revolutionized drug discovery, offering the potential for treatments with enhanced efficacy and minimal side effects.

One of the key parameters characterizing the microstructure of a layer is its degree of order. It can be determined from optical studies or X-ray diffraction. However, both of these methods applied to the same layer may give different results because, for example, aggregates may contribute to the amorphous background in XRD studies, while in optical studies, they may already show order.

Background: Approximately 20% of women develop an ovarian cyst or pelvic mass at some point in their lives. Due to high false positivity of CA-125, women with various benign ovarian tumors simulating malignant masses undergo extensive debulking surgery resulting in increased morbidity. Serum HE4 is a useful test for better discrimination of benign or malignant nature of pelvic masses in preoperative period.

Donor-acceptor in linear π-conjugated systems elicits the intramolecular charge transfer which improves the optical and electronic characteristics. Nevertheless, linear arrangement of electron donor and acceptor finely tune the charge or electron transfer process divulges the device performance. Therefore, molecular engineering of appropriate D-A with precise spacer is indeed challenging.

The Structural Maintenance of Chromosome (SMC) protein is essential for various cellular processes, including chromosome organization, DNA repair, and genome stability. MksB, an alternative SMC protein present in prokaryotes, comprises a hinge dimerization domain and an ABC ATPase head domain linked by a coiled-coil arm. While hinge dimerization in bacterial and eukaryotic SMCs is attributed to conserved glycines, our study unveils the critical role of a novel KDDR motif located at a loop near the hinge dimer interface in Mycobacterium smegmatis MksB (MsMksB).

Article Synopsis
  • In Finland, isolated cleft palate (CP) occurs more frequently than cleft lip with or without cleft palate (CL/P), which is the opposite trend seen in other European countries.
  • A genome-wide association study revealed a specific single nucleotide polymorphism (rs570516915) strongly linked to CP in the Finnish population, showing significant statistical results and confirmed in other cohorts.
  • The risk allele for rs570516915 disrupts a binding site for the IRF6 transcription factor, leading to decreased IRF6 expression, indicating that this genetic alteration may be a key factor in the mechanism causing CP.

A search for the exclusive hadronic decays W^{±}→π^{±}γ, W^{±}→K^{±}γ, and W^{±}→ρ^{±}γ is performed using up to 140  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13  TeV. If observed, these rare processes would provide a unique test bench for the quantum chromodynamics factorization formalism used to calculate cross sections at colliders. Additionally, at future colliders, these decays could offer a new way to measure the W boson mass through fully reconstructed decay products.

Article Synopsis
  • - The ATLAS experiment at the LHC conducted a search for long-lived particles (LLPs) using a large dataset (140 fb^{-1}) from proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV, focusing on LLPs with masses from 5 to 55 GeV that decay within the inner detector.
  • - The study considered scenarios where LLPs are produced from exotic Higgs boson decays and models involving axionlike particles (ALPs).
  • - No significant findings above expected background levels were detected, leading to the establishment of upper limits on various production rates involving the Higgs boson and the top quark related to LLPs and ALPs.
