The introduction of phosphorous (P), and oxygen (O) heteroatoms in the natural honeydew chemical structure is one of the most effective, and practical approaches to synthesizing activated carbon for possible high-performance energy storage applications. The performance metrics of supercapacitors depend on surface functional groups and high-surface-area electrodes that can play a dominant role in areas that require high-power applications. Here, we report a phosphorous and oxygen co-doped honeydew peel-derived activated carbon (HDP-AC) electrode with low surface area for supercapacitor via HPO activation.

Jasmonate ZIM-domain (JAZ) proteins are the key repressors of the jasmonic acid (JA) signal transduction pathway and play a crucial role in stress-related defense, phytohormone crosstalk and modulation of the growth-defense tradeoff. In this study, the sorghum genome was analyzed through genome-wide comparison and domain scan analysis, which led to the identification of 18 sorghum JAZ (SbJAZ) genes. All SbJAZ proteins possess the conserved TIFY and Jas domains and they formed a phylogenetic tree with five clusters related to the orthologs of other plant species.

Cellular stress response mechanisms typically increase organellar quantity and volume. To restore cellular homeostasis and organellar integrity, the surplus organelles are cleared by macroautophagy/autophagy, an intracellular process that shuttles cytoplasmic material to the lysosomes for degradation. The degradation is mediated by autophagy receptors that selectively link the degradable cargo to the autophagy machinery.

The cysteine protease ATG4B cleaves off one or more C-terminal residues of the inactive proform of proteins of the ortholog and paralog LC3 and GABARAP subfamilies of yeast Atg8 to expose a C-terminal glycine that is conjugated to phosphatidylethanolamine during autophagosome formation. We show that ATG4B contains a C-terminal LC3-interacting region (LIR) motif important for efficient binding to and cleavage of LC3 and GABARAP proteins. We solved the crystal structures of the GABARAPL1-ATG4B C-terminal LIR complex.

We have investigated the effects of glycerol on the formation and rheological behavior of cubic phase (I(1)) and related O/I(1) gel emulsion in a water/C(12)EO(8)/dodecane system at 25 degrees C. The phase behavior of the water/C(12)EO(8)/dodecane system was studied by optical observation and structures of different liquid crystalline phases were identified by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) techniques. Addition of dodecane (2 wt%) to aqueous solutions of C(12)EO(8) in a concentrated region (40 wt%) leads to the formation of the I(1) phase (which was absent without the addition of oil).
