Background: Drought is one of main critical factors that limits sugarcane productivity and juice quality in tropical regions. The unprecedented changes in climate such as monsoon failure, increase in temperature and other factors warrant the need for development of stress tolerant cultivars to sustain sugar production. Plant Nuclear factor (NF-Y) is one of the major classes of transcription factors that have a major role in plant development and abiotic stress response.

Next-generation sequencing technology is a bright alternative to the previously used sanger sequencing method due to its global presence in diagnostic setups, massive parallel sequencing ability, and far better sensitivity. In the present study, we have demonstrated a new protocol for kinase domain mutation analysis using the next-generation sequencing (NGS) method using the ion torrent sequencing platform.

However, the cultivated sugarcane hybrids had a narrow genetic base; hence, the present study was planned to evaluate the genome introgressed Saccharum hybrids for their ratooning potential under subtropical climates and red rot tolerance under tropical and subtropical climates. A set of 15 derived hybrids confirmed through the marker, along with five check varieties, were evaluated for agro-morphological, quality, and physiological traits for two years (2018-2019 and 2019-2020) and winter sprouting potential for three years (2018-2019, 2019-2020, and 2020-2021).

Interspecific hybrids (ISH) and intergeneric hybrids (IGH) have great potential to meet the growing demand of biomass, biomass-derived energy and feedstock.
Results: In this study, two types of energy canes, Type I and Type II, derived from S.
Background and aims Enamel demineralization and white spot lesions (WSLs) during orthodontic treatment have always been a challenge to orthodontists. The advancement of nanotechnology has paved the way for the incorporation of bioactive compounds in orthodontic materials especially orthodontic composites for prevention and management of WSLs. The present study aims to prepare, characterize, and then incorporate copper and strontium doped nanohydroxyapatite into orthodontic composite material and test its antibacterial efficacy.

The current study aimed to analyse the apical pressures in extracted teeth with single and joining canals.
Methods: Forty-six freshly extracted teeth were collected for the present study.

Till today, we are still not clear about the impact of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection on reproductive tissues and its vertical transmission through the gametes and embryos. There are few case reports that aim to detect the presence or absence of SARS-CoV-2 viral ribonucleic acid (RNA) in the follicular fluid of the infected females. We hereby present the case report of a 33-year-old woman who was undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection with testicular sperm aspiration and was found to be positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Multiple reasons can be attributed as the cause of IDA, which is not limited to any specific region or population; therefore, making it a matter of global concern. Despite the human body's ability to absorb and conserve iron stores, the gradual loss due to various physiological conditions leads to net deficiency of iron.

Background: Patients with cleft lip and palate deformities undergo multiple surgical procedures from infancy till adolescence. We hypothesized that combining these surgical procedures might offer a better quality of life without compromising on surgical outcomes.
Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted at our center including all adult patients who reported to us for the correction of secondary cleft deformities.
In this study, silver nanoparticles were synthesized (AgNPs) using aqueous rhizome extract of Acorus calamus (ACRE) and evaluated their in vitro anticancer activity and in vivo toxicity in a Wistar rat model. The synthesized AgNPs showed good catalytic activity against different organic pollutant dyes. In vitro cytotoxic effects of AgNPs were assessed in Hep2, COLO 205 and SH-SY5Y cells using MTT assay.

Rats in different groups were orally administered with 5 and 10 mg/Kg BW of AIAgNPs and AIAuNPs (size 1-25 nm) for 28 days and few were maintained until 58 days of washout period. Serum biochemical parameters were not changed significantly at both doses of AIAuNPs and at lower concentration of AIAgNPs.

Organic acids improved dye reduction by augmenting Fe corrosion, with acetic acid performing better than citric acid. NaCl enhanced the reduction rate by its 'salting out' effect on the bulk solution and by Cl anion-mediated pitting corrosion of iron surface.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThis study proposed that the physicochemical effects of common dyebath auxiliaries on the bulk dye solution as well as on the iron surface can influence the reductive discoloration of effluent containing Acid Orange 7 (AO7) dye using high-carbon iron filings. Sodium chloride increased the discoloration rate because of the pitting corrosion on the iron surface, triggered by chloride anion. 'Salting out' effect of ammonium sulfate improved the reaction rate up to a certain concentration, beyond which it could compete with dye molecules for the reactive sites, as revealed by formed sulfite and sulfide.

We carried out a process evaluation to assess the implementation of the intervention and the evidence that it had changed the perceived benefits and social norms associated with HWWS. The evaluation also aimed to inform the design of a streamlined shorter intervention and estimate scale up costs.

Handwashing with soap could substantially reduce diarrhoea and respiratory infections, but prevalence of adequate handwashing is low. We tested whether a scalable village-level intervention based on emotional drivers of behaviour, rather than knowledge, could improve handwashing behaviour in rural India.
