Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a global health burden, and India is regarded as the diabetes capital of the world. Glycaemic variability (GV) is an established risk factor for hypoglycaemia (plasma glucose concentration <70 mg/dL) and a notorious risk factor for diabetes complications. The primary aim of the study was to assess the correlation between the GV indices, HbA1c levels, and measures of hypoglycaemia in patients with type 2 DM (T2DM).

The present study was directed to assess the correlation between leukocyte and platelet indices and microvascular complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted between January 2020 and May 2021 at a tertiary healthcare center. Sixty T2DM patients, who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were included into the study and divided into 2 groups: T2DM patients with microvascular complications and T2DM patients without vascular complications.

Although it has a good safety profile overall, nephrotoxicity is a concern and its overall incidence is 1-6% with a long period of clinical latency. Nephrotoxicity may manifest as either proximal renal tubule dysfunction in the form of a partial or complete Fanconi syndrome or as decreased renal function leading to acute or chronic kidney injury.
