Brolucizumab, an angiogenesis inhibitor, is a single-chain fragment of a humanized antibody used to treat neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME). Although registration studies are the primary source of information on the new drug, post-marketing studies allow for further exploration and expansion of previous knowledge about its effectiveness, safety, and dosing regimens. This study summarizes the experience with brolucizumab from real-world clinical practice studies.

On the other hand, epilepsy may exacerbate the negative effects of aging making it pathological. In turn, the possible link between aging and epileptogenesis is dysregulation of glutamatergic transmission.

Methods: Patients with CSCR complicated by CNV defined as the presence of characteristic OCT angiography features were randomly assigned to either study or control group. All patients of the study group underwent MLT targeting CNV area using navigated laser system followed by at least 6-month follow-up.
Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors have been proposed as pharmacological agents in the treatment of various diseases. Recently, factors and mechanisms responsible for regulating PARP catalytic activity have been identified, some of which can significantly influence the effectiveness of inhibitors of this enzyme. In this regard, it is important to develop new models and methods that would reflect the cellular context in which PARP functions.

X-ray diffraction data show the presence of two isoforms of complex 1; according to quantum chemical calculations, the structure of only the trans isomer is stable in solutions. The processes of transformation of complex 1 in DMSO, in aqueous solutions, as well as in the presence of bovine serum albumin, reduced glutathione, and mucin were studied.

Unlabelled: The problem of patients' rehabilitation after spinal surgery remains relevant. The use of therapeutic physical factors, both preformed and natural, including pelotherapy, is very important. The application of the latter requires to develop new techniques in this pathology, one of which is low temperature exposure.

In this review, we focused on the advantages of topical bromfenac as an adjunct to intravitreal anti-VEGF therapy in VEGF-driven maculopathies.
Methods: Cochrane Library, PubMed, and EMBASE were systematically reviewed to identify the relevant studies of neovascular age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, macular edema associated with retinal vein occlusion, myopic choroidal neovascularization, and radiation maculopathy which reported changes in central retinal thickness, visual acuity, and the number of anti-VEGF injections needed when anti-VEGF therapy was combined with topical bromfenac.
Unlabelled: Chronic pharyngitis (CP) is one of the most common diseases of the oropharynx. The number of referrals from patients with CP reaches 70% of the total number of referrals to an otorhinolaryngologist. The development of this disease is facilitated by the neuro-reflex factor and a violation of trophic and metabolic processes.

At the Institute of Cytology and Genetics (Novosibirsk, Russia) for over 85 generations, gray rats have been selected for high aggression toward humans (aggressive rats) or its complete absence (tame rats). Aggressive rats are an interesting model for studying fear-induced aggression. Benzopentathiepin TC-2153 exerts an antiaggressive effect on aggressive rats and affects the serotonergic system: an important regulator of aggression.

Mutations in the human gene are associated with hereditary motor disorders. The common C886T mutation identified in the mouse gene results in the R278H substitution in the enzyme molecule.

Mutations in the human Tph2 gene reducing enzyme activity increase the risk of psychopathology. Pharmacological chaperones are small molecules that can specifically bind to mutant protein molecules, restore their disturbed 3D structure to the native state, and increase their stability and functional activity.

To reduce this risk, it has been proposed to implement the standardized clinical protocol for scheduled perioperative blood glucose concentration (BGC) monitoring. This would be followed by intravenous (IV) insulin infusion to keep BGC below 180 mg/dl in the perioperative period.

At the same time, chronic aspirin consumption can affect blood clot formation during surgical intervention and increase intraoperative blood loss This is especially important for high-risk surgery, including neurosurgery. Current European Society of Cardiology guidelines recommend aspirin interruption for at least 7 d before neurosurgical intervention, but this suggestion is not supported by clinical evidence.

Zebrafish brain is highly resistant to damage and neurodegeneration due to its high regeneration potential and it is a promising model object in searching for molecular factors preventing age-related neurodegeneration. In the present study alterations in 5-HT-related behavior in the home tank and the novel tank diving test, as well as 5-HT, 5-HIAA levels, tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH), monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity and the expression of genes encoding TPH, MAO, 5-HT transporter and 5-HT receptors in the brain of 6, 12, 24 and 36 month old zebrafish males and females are investigated.

Methods: In this single-center retrospective cohort study, all patients received standard PDT with 6 mg of chlorin E6 (Fotoran E6) for each m 2 of body surface area with 50 J/cm 2 fluence and a treatment time of 83 seconds. The changes in central retinal thickness, subfoveal choroidal thickness, and best-corrected visual acuity were evaluated at the end of the follow-up.
Objective: Perioperative risk assessment and stratification before craniotomy is necessary to identify and optimize modifiable risk factors. Due to the high costs of diagnostic testing and concerns for delaying surgery, some have questioned whether and when surgery delays are warranted and supported by the current body of literature. The objective of this scoping review was to evaluate the available evidence on the prognostic value of preoperative risk assessment before anesthesia for elective craniotomy.
