Chronic graft versus host disease (cGVHD) remains a major complication of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). It significantly decreases survival and quality of life. View Article and Find Full Text PDFThis work describes the wettability and biological performance of Zn- and Cu-containing CaP-based coatings prepared by micro-arc oxidation on pure titanium (Ti) and novel Ti-40Nb alloy. Good hydrophilic properties of all the coatings were demonstrated by the low contact angles with liquids, not exceeding 45°. An increase in the applied voltage led to an increase of the coating roughness and porosity, thereby reducing the contact angles to 6° with water and to 17° with glycerol.

Materials And Methods: We included in this nonrandomized open study patients with ACS older than 18 years with intact coronary arteries or confirmed at coronary angiography stenosis <50%. Genotypes of these patients were analyzed by 8 polymorphic variants of the hemostatic system genes which previously were found to be associated with the thrombophilia risk: F2 (20210 G>A) rs1799963, F5 (1691 G>A) rs6025, F7 (10976G>A) rs6046, F13 (163 G>T) rs5985, F1 (-455G>A) rs1800790, GP Ia - Ila (807C>t) rs1126643, GP Ilb-IIIa (1565 T>C) rs5918, PAI-I (-6755G>4G) rs1799889.
We consider theoretically the effect of an inhomogeneous magnetoelectric coupling on the magnon-induced dynamics of a ferromagnet. The magnon-mediated magnetoelectric torque affects both the homogeneous magnetization and magnon-driven domain wall motion. In the domains, we predict a reorientation of the magnetization, controllable by the applied electric field, which is almost an order of magnitude larger than that observed in other physical systems via the same mechanism.

It is known that dissipationless spin currents can arise when using conventional superconducting contacts, yet this has only been experimentally demonstrated when using intricate magnetically inhomogeneous multilayers, or in extreme cases such as half-metals with interfacial magnetic disorder. Subjects And Methods: The study included 49 patients aged 2 to 55 years. Allo-HSCT was carried out in 38 (79%) patients with acute leukemias, 5 (10%) with chronic leukemias, 4 (8%) with myelodysplastic syndrome/myeloproliferative disease, and 2 (3%) with other hematologic diseases.
Strontium ranelate (SR) effect on the functional parameters of human blood mononuclear leukocytes culture has been investigated. SR in concentrations of 2.9, 29, and 290 mg/ml produces a dose-dependent decrease in the activity of alkaline phosphatase and the content of calcium and potassium ions in supernatants.

The membrane potential was stepped from the rest level to a certain depolarization test level that was clamped for a certain time, and the total current was measured at different moments after the step onset. The estimation of the efficacy of recombinant human interferon 2 in the form of suppositories--genferon and viferon in the treatment of acute bronchitis in adults is given. It was revealed that the usage of these medications in the treatment of acute bronchitis is accompanied by a more dynamic regression of fever and intoxication syndromes, reduces the need for the appointment of additional medications and reduces the period of temporary disability of patients.

The combined effects of the local geometry of the dendritic branches and of the membrane mechanisms are computed in passive configuration to obtain the electrotonic structure of the arborization. Steady-currents applied to the soma and expressed as a function of the path distance from the soma form different clusters of profiles in which dendritic branches are similar in voltages and current transfer effectiveness.

Such tonic activation was delivered to the uniform dendrite and to the dendrites with symmetric or asymmetric branching with various ratios of branch diameters. Transfer effectiveness of the dendrites with distributed sources was estimated by the core current increment directly related to the total membrane current per unit path length.

In the course of antitumor chemotherapy the counts of CFU-GM and CFU-E diminished 2 and 4-fold, respectively. The prednisolone functional test determined that depletion of CFU-GM and CFU-E pools in the peripheral blood was preceded with lowered pool reserve for hematopoietic precursors.

Changes in the neutrophilic morphology and function were revealed in lung cancer patients, presenting as elevated alkaline phosphatase activity, reduced myeloperoxidase activity and lipid and glycogen levels, increased endogenous activation of the neutrophils in the NBT test, and decreased reaction activity in zymosan stimulation. Antitumor chemotherapy involved a lowering of the cationic protein level, as well of the acid phosphatase activity, and elevation of glycogen content.
