Dance Movement Therapy for Clients With a Personality Disorder: A Systematic Review and Thematic Synthesis.

People with a personality disorder (PD) suffer from enduring inflexible patterns in cognitions and emotions, leading to significant subjective distress, affecting both self and interpersonal functioning. In clinical practice, Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is provided to clients with a PD, and although research continuously confirms the value of DMT for many populations, to date, there is very limited information available on DMT and PD. For this study, a systematic literature review on DMT and PD was conducted to identify the content of the described DMT interventions and the main treatment themes to focus upon in DMT for PD.

Pretreatment unresolved-disorganized attachment status in eating disorder patients associated with stronger reduction of comorbid symptoms after psychotherapy.

Research shows that the Unresolved-disorganized attachment representation (U), resulting from experiences of loss or abuse, is associated with a range of psychiatric conditions. However, clinical implications of U are yet unclear.: To investigate how U is related to symptoms and recovery of eating disorder (ED) patients.

[Attachment, mentalization and autonomy in anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa].

Attachment insecurity and difficulty with mentalization are common in patients with eating disorders and might be related to their symptoms and lack of autonomy.
AIM: To investigate the role of attachment and mentalization in the course of anorexia nervosa (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN).
METHOD: Patients with AN and BN were assessed at the start of treatment, and after 1 year and 1.

Adolescent attachment insecurity and the influence of MBT.

The aim of this study in a high-risk adolescent sample with personality disorders receiving intensive mentalisation-based treatment (MBT), was first, to examine deviations in insecure attachment distribution of the normative pattern, and in borderline personality disorder and other personality disorders; second, to explore whether MBT alters attachment representations and whether these alterations are related to changes in psychological distress. A total of 60 adolescents were investigated pre-treatment for both categorical and continuous measures of the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI). Pre- and post-AAI ( = 33) data were compared with psychological distress measured by the Symptom Checklist-90.

The tunable pReX expression vector enables optimizing the T7-based production of membrane and secretory proteins in E. coli.

Background: To optimize the production of membrane and secretory proteins in Escherichia coli, it is critical to harmonize the expression rates of the genes encoding these proteins with the capacity of their biogenesis machineries. Therefore, we engineered the Lemo21(DE3) strain, which is derived from the T7 RNA polymerase-based BL21(DE3) protein production strain. In Lemo21(DE3), the T7 RNA polymerase activity can be modulated by the controlled co-production of its natural inhibitor T7 lysozyme.

Is reduction of symptoms in eating disorder patients after 1 year of treatment related to attachment security and mentalization?

In a sample of 38 eating disorder (ED) patients who received psychotherapeutic treatment, changes in attachment security, and mentalization in relation to symptoms reduction were investigated. Attachment security improved in 1 year but was unrelated to improvement of ED or comorbid symptoms. Mentalization did not change significantly in 1 year.

Recovery from eating disorder 1 year after start of treatment is related to better mentalization and strong reduction of sensitivity to others.

Purpose: To investigate whether recovery from an eating disorder is related to pre-treatment attachment and mentalization and/or to improvement of attachment and mentalization during treatment.

Method: For a sample of 38 anorexia nervosa (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN) patients receiving treatment the relations between attachment security, mentalization, comorbidity and recovery status after 12 months (not recovered or recovered), and after 18 months (persistently ill, relapsed, newly recovered, or persistently recovered) were investigated. Attachment security and mentalization were assessed by the Adult Attachment Interview at the start of the treatment and after 12 months.

Optimizing E. coli-Based Membrane Protein Production Using Lemo21(DE3) or pReX and GFP-Fusions.

Optimizing the conditions for the production of membrane proteins in E. coli is usually a laborious and time-consuming process. Combining the Lemo21(DE3) strain or the pReX T7-based expression vector with membrane proteins C-terminally fused to Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) greatly facilitates the optimization of membrane protein production yields.

Attachment insecurity, mentalization and their relation to symptoms in eating disorder patients.

Objective: To investigate the relationships of attachment security and mentalization with core and co-morbid symptoms in eating disorder patients.

Method: We compared 51 eating disorder patients at the start of intensive treatment and 20 healthy controls on attachment, mentalization, eating disorder symptoms, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, psycho-neuroticism, autonomy problems and self-injurious behavior, using the Adult Attachment Interview, the SCID-I and II and several questionnaires.

Results: Compared with the controls, the eating disorder patients showed a higher prevalence of insecure attachment; eating disorder patients more often than controls received the AAI classification Unresolved for loss or abuse.

High-level production of membrane proteins in E. coli BL21(DE3) by omitting the inducer IPTG.

Background: For membrane protein production, the Escherichia coli T7 RNA polymerase (T7 RNAP)-based protein production strain BL21(DE3) in combination with T7-promoter based expression vectors is widely used. Cells are routinely cultured in Lysogeny broth (LB medium) and expression of the chromosomally localized t7rnap gene is governed by the isopropyl-β-D-1-thiogalactopyranoside (IPTG) inducible lacUV5 promoter. The T7 RNAP drives the expression of the plasmid borne gene encoding the recombinant membrane protein.

Targeting anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 by AT-101 to increase radiation efficacy: data from in vitro and clinical pharmacokinetic studies in head and neck cancer.

Background: Pro-survival Bcl-2 family members can promote cancer development and contribute to treatment resistance. Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is frequently characterized by overexpression of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family members. Increased levels of these anti-apoptotic proteins have been associated with radio- and chemoresistance and poor clinical outcome.

[Transference focused psychotherapy (TFP) and principles of mentalisation in inpatient psychotherapy; a matter of form and content].

Background: General principles of milieu therapy together with a general psychodynamic frame of reference were felt to have become inadequate in providing an adequate and coherent treatment program in an inpatient psychotherapeutic setting. Both Transference Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) and Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) are individual psychotherapy models developed for use in outpatient practice. Theoretically, both models could be adjusted for use in an inpatient setting.

Radiation exposure during percutaneous coronary interventions and coronary angiograms performed by the radial compared with the femoral route.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare radiation exposure of patients undergoing percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and coronary angiograms (CAG) accessed by the femoral route with the radial route (operator's choice).

Background: There are limited and contradictory data on the radiation exposure of patients during PCI and CAG performed by the radial route compared with the femoral route.

Methods: Data on the radiation exposure of patients from 3,973 PCI and CAG procedures between June 22, 2004, and December 31, 2008, were prospectively collected and analyzed.

Exposure of cardiologists from interventional procedures.

Data on the exposure of seven cardiologists and over 10 000 patients undergoing interventional procedures were collected. The data were collected in a study that was set up to evaluate differences in the exposure of seven cardiologists performing interventional procedures. The study revealed a linear relation between the exposure of the seven cardiologists and the exposure of their patients (R(2) = 0.

AT-101, a small molecule inhibitor of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family members, activates the SAPK/JNK pathway and enhances radiation-induced apoptosis.

Background: Gossypol, a naturally occurring polyphenolic compound has been identified as a small molecule inhibitor of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family proteins. It induces apoptosis in a wide range of tumor cell lines and enhances chemotherapy- and radiation-induced cytotoxicity both in vitro and in vivo. Bcl-2 and related proteins are important inhibitors of apoptosis and frequently overexpressed in human tumors.

Effective dose to staff from interventional procedures: estimations from single and double dosimetry.

The exposure of 11 physicians performing interventional procedures was measured by means of two personal dosemeters. One personal dosemeter was worn outside the lead apron and an additional under the lead apron. The study was set up in order to determine the added value of a dosemeter worn under the lead apron.

Evaluation of the occupational doses of interventional radiologists.

The aim of the present study was to determine whether there is a linear relation between the doses measured above and those measured under the lead apron of the radiologists performing interventional procedures. To monitor radiation exposure the International Commission of Radiological Protection (ICRP) recommends the use of a single dosimeter under the protective apron. To determine the exposure more accurately an additional dosimeter is recommended above the protective apron.

Radiosensitization of human glioma cells by cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibition: independent on COX-2 expression and dependent on the COX-2 inhibitor and sequence of administration.

Purpose: Patients with a malignant glioma have a very poor prognosis. Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) protein is regularly upregulated in gliomas and might be a potential therapeutic target. The effects of three selective COX-2 inhibitors were studied on three human glioma cell lines.

Radiosensitizing potential of the selective cyclooygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor meloxicam on human glioma cells.

The COX-2 protein is frequently overexpressed in human malignant gliomas. This expression has been associated with their aggressive growth characteristics and poor prognosis for patients. Targeting the COX-2 pathway might improve glioma therapy.

COX-2 inhibitors act as radiosensitizer in tumor treatment.

Since cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is overexpressed in malignant tissues, the COX-2 mediated signaling pathway has been recognized as potential target for therapeutic intervention. In most human tumors, COX-2 overexpression has been associated with tumor aggressiveness and poor clinical outcome. In vitro studies show inhibition of cell proliferation by selective COX-2 inhibitors alone, and enhancement of the response to irradiation.

Expression of cyclooxygenase-2 and epidermal growth factor receptor in primary and recurrent glioblastoma multiforme.

Purpose: To investigate the pattern and level of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression in a series of high grade primary and recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and correlation with time to recurrence and patients' survival following therapy. The relationship between COX-2 and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) immunoreactivities was evaluated.

Materials And Methods: Specimens of 14 primary and 14 recurrent GBMs (eight pairs) following surgery and full course radiation therapy were processed for immunostaining on COX-2 and EGFR.

Influence of anoxia on the induction of mutations by phenylalanine radicals during gamma-irradiation of plasmid DNA in aqueous solution.

When DNA is irradiated in aqueous solution, most of the damage is inflicted by water-derived radicals. This is called the indirect effect of ionizing radiation. However in whole cells not only the primary formed water radicals play a role, because some cellular compounds form secondary radicals which can also damage DNA.

Cloning of the chrysanthemum UEP1 promoter and comparative expression in florets and leaves of Dendranthema grandiflora.

To attain high transgene expression in petal tissue of ray florets of chrysanthemum an endogenous ubiquitin extension protein (UEP1) promoter was cloned and tested with the beta-glucuronidase (GUS) reporter gene. Expression levels were compared with four heterologous promoters: chalcone synthase (chs-A) and zinc finger transcription factor (EPF2-5) from petunia, eceriferum (CER6) from Arabidopsis and multicystatin (PMC) from potato. The comparison of the expression levels of the different constructs in ray florets, disc florets, and leaves is presented.
