Background: The use of digital tools such as electronic patient portals in different health care disciplines and settings has been increasing, but the rate of implementation in clinical practice still lags behind expectations. While studies have linked the use of electronic patient portals to positive health outcomes for patients, studies addressing the viewpoints of healthcare providers are rare.
Methods: We performed an online survey of attitudes of healthcare providers towards an electronic patient portal for mental health hospitals.
Resistance to genotoxic therapies and tumor recurrence are hallmarks of glioblastoma (GBM), an aggressive brain tumor. In this study, we investigated functional drivers of post-treatment recurrent GBM through integrative genomic analyses, genome-wide genetic perturbation screens in patient-derived GBM models and independent lines of validation. Specific genetic dependencies were found consistent across recurrent tumor models, accompanied by increased mutational burden and differential transcript and protein expression compared to its primary GBM predecessor.

The dermal uptake of EHS was studied in several dermal-exposure experiments. This paper aims to coherently assess urine samples after dermal exposure for the biomarkers EHS, 5OH-EHS, 5oxo-EHS, and 5cx-EPS as well as further biomarkers of interest, specifically 4OH-EHS, 4oxo-EHS, 2OH-EHS, and 6OH-EHS, for the first time.

Kinase inhibitors are promising to enhance the effects of radiotherapy. We compared the effects of the PARP inhibitors talazoparib and niraparib and that of the DNA-PKcs inhibitor AZD7648, combined with ionizing radiation.

The application of EHS-containing products leads to systemic EHS absorption, metabolization and excretion. To measure EHS and its corresponding metabolite levels in urine, a comprehensive analytical procedure based on an extended enzymatic hydrolysis, on-line-SPE, and UPLC-MS/MS was developed.

However, prior attempts to develop models predicting motif co-occurrence lacked scalability for globally analyzing any motif combination or making cross-species predictions. Moreover, mapping co-regulatory modules (CRM) to gene regulatory networks (GRN) is crucial for understanding underlying function.

The durations of epileptic seizures are linked to severity and risk for patients. It is unclear if the spatiotemporal evolution of a seizure has any relationship with its duration. Understanding such mechanisms may help reveal treatments for reducing the duration of a seizure.

This study characterizes the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying electromagnetic imaging signals using stability analysis. Researchers have proposed that transitions between conscious awake and anaesthetised states, and other brain states more generally, may result from system stability changes. The concept of stability in dynamical systems theory provides a mathematical framework to describe this possibility.

Although machine learning (ML) has been proposed for automated seizure detection using EEG data, there is little evidence of these technologies being broadly adopted in clinical practice. Moreover, there is a noticeable lack of surveys investigating this topic from the perspective of medical practitioners, which limits the understanding of the obstacles for the development of effective automated seizure detection.

However, the function of most lncRNAs remains unknown, and furthermore, existing approaches have focused on gene-level investigation. Our work emphasizes the importance of transcript-level annotation to uncover the roles of specific transcript isoforms.

The potential for increased radiosensitivity has been linked to highly penetrant heterozygous mutations in DNA repair genes such as and . By studying the chromosomal radiosensitivity of mutation carriers compared to the general population, we study whether increased chromosomal radiation sensitivity is observed in patients with variants.

We hypothesized that many patients with painful CP have generalized hyperalgesia correlating with central neuronal hyperexcitability.
Patients And Methods: Seventeen CP patients with pain and 20 matched healthy controls underwent experimental pain testing, including repeated pain stimuli (temporal summation), pressure algometry performed in dermatomes with same spinal innervation as the pancreatic gland (pancreatic areas) and remote dermatomes (control areas), a cold pressor test and a conditioned pain modulation paradigm.
Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most common type of malignant pediatric brain cancer. The current standard of care (SOC) involves maximal safe resection and chemoradiotherapy in individuals older than 3 years, often leading to devastating neurocognitive and developmental deficits. Out of the four distinct molecular subgroups, Group 3 and 4 have the poorest patient outcomes due to the aggressive nature of the tumor and propensity to metastasize and recur post therapy.

In case of extremely high radiosensitivity, dose reduction may be appropriate. Some rheumatic diseases (RhD), including connective tissue diseases (CTDs) appear to be associated with higher radiosensitivity.

However, this approach lacks a reliable method to determine the initial filter conditions and assumes that the distribution of states remains Gaussian.

In particular, a nonlinear Analytic Kalman filter (AKF) has been developed to efficiently infer the states and parameters of neural mass models believed to underlie the generation of electromagnetic source currents. Unfortunately, as the initialization determines the performance of the Kalman filter, and the ground truth is typically unavailable for initialization, this framework might produce suboptimal results unless significant effort is spent on tuning the initialization.

Due to a significantly increased radiosensitivity, measured before the start of radiotherapy of a rhabdoid tumor in a child with Phelan-McDermid syndrome, the question arose whether other patients with this syndrome also have increased radiosensitivity. For this purpose, the radiation sensitivity of blood lymphocytes after irradiation with 2Gray was examined using the G0 three-color fluorescence in situ hybridization assay in a cohort of 20 patients with Phelan-McDermid syndrome from blood samples.
