This study aimed to explore the impact of SCD Probiotics supplementation on biomolecule profiles and histopathology of ileum and colon tissues during a 30-day intermittent fasting (IF) program. Male Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 24 months, underwent 18-h daily fasting and received 3 mL (1 × 108 CFU) of SCD Probiotics. The differences in biomolecule profiles were determined using FTIR Spectroscopy and two machine learning techniques, Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and Support Vector Machine (SVM), which showed significant differences with high accuracy rates.

Vibration-controlled transient elastography for non-invasive screening of liver fibrosis and steatosis in Turkish patients with psoriasis: A cross-sectional study.

Background And Aim: The prevalence of fibrosis and steatosis in patients with psoriasis, as determined by vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE), has not been evaluated in Turkiye to date. The present cross-sectional study aims to present the first systematic screening results, focusing on two primary objectives: 1) establishing the prevalence of fibrosis and steatosis, and 2) identifying independent predictors for liver stiffness measurement (LSM) and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) values in this patient population.

Materials And Methods: Patients were eligible for inclusion if they had a confirmed diagnosis of psoriasis by a qualified dermatologist based on characteristic signs and symptoms and histopathological examination, and had undergone VCTE for LSM and CAP measurements.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the reflection skills of students at the Faculty of Medicine and the factors influencing these skills, as well as to measure the impact of students' reflection skills on their clinical decision-making.

Methods: This study is an educational research project conducted on fifth-year Ear Nose Throat (ENT) interns at Vakif University's Faculty of Medicine. The "Reflective Thinking Level Determination Scale" and the "Clinical Decision-Making Scale," which are valid and reliable, were used to assess the reflection skills and clinical decision-making abilities of the 125 students participating in the study.

Background: In response to the mpox outbreak, vaccination was offered in the Netherlands to men who have sex with men (MSM) at increased risk for mpox. Successful vaccination campaigns are leveraged by high intent-to-vaccinate, yet intent might not always lead to uptake. Therefore, we assessed the impact of intent-to-vaccinate and other factors on vaccination uptake among participants of the Amsterdam Cohort Studies (ACS).

Background: Literature shows that Virtual Patients (VPs) find extensive usage in the field of health sciences, especially in the post-pandemic period. VPs are successfully utilized in developing various effective skills like medical interview. However, this technology is quite new in Turkey and has not yet been used in communication skills training in a structured form.

This study aims to investigate the effects of plasma exchange on the biomolecular profiles and histology of ileum and colon tissues in young and aged Sprague-Dawley male rats. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, linear discriminant analysis and support vector machine (SVM) techniques were employed to analyse the lipid, protein, and nucleic acid indices in young and aged rats. Following the application of young plasma, aged rats demonstrated biomolecular profiles similar to those of their younger counterparts.

Pregabalin Qualitative Detection in Turkish Forensic Cases Between 2017 to 2018.

Pregabalin (PGB) has been commonly subjected to diversion, from being a prescription drug to a recreational drug. In this study, pregabalin use (which is one of the substances subject to control in Turkey) and the concomitant use of other substances in cases admitted to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute was evaluated. Samples from 15,259 cases were screened, between June 2017 and December 2018, for the presence of PGB, and PGB positive cases were further analyzed.

Treatment efficacy of ribociclib or palbociclib plus letrozole in hormone receptor-positive/HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer.

Ribociclib, palbociclib and abemaciclib are currently approved CDK4/6 inhibitors along with aromatase inhibitors as the first-line standard-of-care for patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer. The authors report retrospective real-life data for 600 patients with estrogen receptor- and/or progesterone receptor-positive and HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer who were treated with ribociclib and palbociclib in combination with letrozole. The results demonstrated that the combination of palbociclib or ribociclib with letrozole has similar progression-free survival and overall survival benefit in real life for the patient group with similar clinical features.

This study aimed to examine the biological effects of blood plasma exchange in liver tissues of aged and young rats using machine learning methods and spectrochemical and histopathological approaches. Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) were the machine learning algorithms employed. Young plasma was given to old male rats (24 months), while old plasma was given to young male rats (5 weeks) for thirty days.
