Purpose: This retrospective cohort study evaluates the influence of connective tissue grafts (CTG) on bone regeneration at implant sites with total loss of the buccal bone wall treated with flapless immediate implant placement (IIP) and reconstruction with autogenous bone chips (AB) within a follow-up of up to 13 years.
Methods: Sixty implants were inserted in 55 patients in sites with total loss of the buccal bone wall between 2008 and 2021. The implants were inserted and the buccal gaps were grafted by AB.
Purpose: To evaluate the effects of micropulse transscleral cyclophotocoagulation (mCPC) and selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) on endothelial cell density (ECD) and reduction of the intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with primary-open angle glaucoma (POAG).
Patients And Methods: In this observational, retrospective study, 40 eyes with POAG were included. Patients were divided into three groups-group I was treated with SLT ( = 13), group II was treated with mCPC ( = 13), and group III included age-matched patients with medically treated glaucoma ( = 14) (control group).

Purpose: To evaluate the correlation of the intraocular pressure measurements (IOP) with non-contact tonometer Corvis Scheimpflug technology (Corvis ST), Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT), ocular response analyzer (ORA), and iCARE rebound tonometer in patients with thyroid-associated orbitopathy (TAO) and eye-healthy subjects (control group).
Methods: Twenty-nine consecutive patients with TAO (79% female) and 30 eye-healthy subjects (60% female) were included in this prospective, age- and sex-matched study. The IOP measurement with Corvis, ORA, GAT, iCARE, and central corneal thickness (CCT) with Corvis was obtained from all study participants.
Background: Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-2 and growth and differentiation factor (GDF)-5 are two related transforming growth factor (TGF)-β family members with important functions in embryonic development and tissue homeostasis. BMP-2 is best known for its osteoinductive properties whereas GDF-5-as evident from its alternative name, cartilage derived morphogenetic protein 1-plays an important role in the formation of cartilage. In spite of these differences both factors signal by binding to the same subset of BMP receptors, raising the question how these different functionalities are generated.

Methods: Thirty-two consecutive patients with a history of radiation to the head and neck region (range, 62-70 Gy; mean, 68 Gy; median, 69 Gy) due to squamous cell cancer and suspected ORNJ underwent 3-phase bone scans after injection of 520 to 750 MBq of Tc-MPD. In addition to planar scans, tomographic images (SPECT) were acquired in the second phase and SPECT/CT images during the third phase.

Objectives: The lack of oral mucosa in oral and maxillofacial surgery for intraoral grafting after trauma or tumor resection can be balanced by tissue-engineered oral mucosa. The aim of this study was to generate a tissue-engineered oral mucosa equivalent (OME).
Study Design: First, primary oral fibroblasts were cultured for 7 days on different materials: Tissufoil E (TFE), dermal regeneration template (DRT), and Vicryl.

Materials And Methods: Each of the 12 adult sheep used in the study received four iliac corticocancellous onlay bone grafts on the lateral surface of the mandible. In experiment 1, the block graft was placed in direct contact with the recipient bed and fixed with micro-screws, and in experiment 2, the recipient cortical bed was perforated before graft placement.

Twelve adult sheep each received an onlay bone graft (experiment 1), bone graft+Bio-Gide (experiment 2), and bone graft+Bio-Oss/Bio-Gide (experiment 3) on the lateral surface of the mandible.
