The segmentation of teeth in 3D dental scans is difficult due to variations in teeth shapes, misalignments, occlusions, or the present dental appliances. Existing methods consistently adhere to geometric representations, omitting the perceptual aspects of the inputs. In addition, current works often lack evaluation on anatomically complex cases due to the unavailability of such datasets.

Seasonal windows of opportunity are intervals within a year that provide improved prospects for growth, survival, or reproduction. However, few studies have sufficient temporal resolution to examine how multiple factors combine to constrain the seasonal timing and extent of developmental opportunities. Here, we document seasonal changes in milkweed ()-monarch () interactions with high resolution throughout the last three breeding seasons prior to a precipitous single-year decline in the western monarch population.

Pretargeted imaging and radioimmunotherapy approaches are designed to have superior targeting properties over directly targeted antibodies but impose more complex pharmacology, which hinders efforts to optimize the ligands prior to human applications. Human embryonic kidney 293T cells expressing the humanized single-chain variable fragment (scFv) C825 (huC825) with high-affinity for DOTA-haptens (293T-huC825) in a transmembrane-anchored format eliminated the requirement to use other pretargeting reagents and provided a simplified, accelerated assay of radiohapten capture while offering normalized cell surface expression of the molecular target of interest. Using binding assays, biodistribution, and imaging, we demonstrated that radiohaptens based on benzyl-DOTA and a second generation "Proteus" DOTA-platform effectively and specifically engaged membrane-bound huC825, achieving favorable tumor-to-normal tissue uptake ratios in mice.

Aedes aegypti is a major vector of Zika, dengue, and other arboviruses. Permethrin adulticidal spraying, which targets the voltage-gated sodium channel (VGSC), is commonly done to reduce local mosquito populations and protect humans from exposure to arbovirus pathogens transmitted by this dangerous pest. Permethrin resistance, however, is a growing problem and understanding its underlying molecular basis may identify avenues to combat it.

Association mapping of factors that condition pyrethroid resistance in Aedes aegypti has consistently identified genes in multiple functional groups. Toward better understanding of the mechanisms involved, we examined high throughput sequencing data (HTS) from two Aedes aegypti aegypti collections from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico treated with either permethrin or deltamethrin. Exome capture enrichment for coding regions and the AaegL5 annotation were used to identify genes statistically associated with resistance.

Background: This study examined whether measuring myocardial blood flow (MBF) in the sub-endocardial (SEN) and sub-epicardial (SEP) layers of the left ventricular myocardium using NH positron emission tomography (PET) and an automated procedure gives reasonable results in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease (CAD).

Methods: Resting and stress NH dynamic PET were performed in 70 patients. Using ≥ 70% diameter stenosis in invasive coronary angiography (ICA) to identify significant CAD, we examined the diagnostic value of SEN- and SEP-MBF, and coronary flow reserve (CFR) vs.

Exposure of winter brassicas to periods of low temperature decreases the transition required from vegetative to reproductive growth. This low-temperature exposure also results in the acquisition of freezing tolerance. To investigate the relationship between vernalization and freezing tolerance, homozygous microspore-derived (DH) lines were developed from reciprocal crosses between two winter cultivars of Brassica napus L.

The goal of this study was to develop an optimal procedure to determine age-related changes in trabecular bone. The investigations were based on two-dimensional images of the human vertebral trabecular bone specimens. The following indices of trabecular structure were considered: bone volume/total volume, star volume of the marrow cavity, Euler number and the probability of disconnection (straightforwardly connected with the number of separated parts of the network).
