The industrial production of melamine is carried out by the thermal decomposition of urea in two technological processes, using high or low pressure. The reaction may be accompanied by the formation of undesirable byproducts, oxoaminotriazines, and so-called polycondensates, mainly melam, melem, and melon, as well as their hydrates and adducts. Their presence leads to the deterioration of the quality of the final product and may lead to the release of troublesome deposits inside the apparatus of the product's separation node.

Article Synopsis
  • * Research found an additional repeat expansion site in the MARCH6 gene among European families, alongside previously identified expansions in the SAMD12 gene in Asia.
  • * The study revealed significant variability in the size and structure of these repeat expansions and noted that large expansions can lead to genetic rearrangements in some cells, indicating a high level of instability.

The aim of this study was to analyse the acclimation of male Europeans during a forty-one day stay in the hot and humid climate of Thailand. We also tried to examine the phases of acclimation which would eventually be used by trainers in the elaboration of the schedule of athletes' preparation to participate in competitions in a tropical climate. Twelve Polish male subjects ageing 21-38 years participated in these examinations.

The aim of this study was to compare the efficiency of exercise thermoregulatory functions in Thai and Polish groups. Twelve Thai and 14 Polish healthy male students were included. An exercise test on a bicycle ergometer at 53% of the maximal work load was performed at ambient air temperature of 30 degrees C and relative humidity of 70%.

The paper includes conceptual premises on which the analysis of the occupational health education system is based as well as the outcome of an attempt to perform a comparative study in this area. The authors present some of the features which characterize the education system designed for occupational health physicians. A comparative approach adopted in the analysis (Poland vs some other countries) seems to be the simplest and the most effective way to draw appropriate conclusions.

Patients whose lymphoma is resistant to standard treatment regimens continue to do poorly, with only an occasional patient achieving long-term remission even with bone marrow transplantation. Twenty-three patients with primarily refractory (11), or refractory relapsed (12) non-Hodgkin's lymphoma were treated with repeated cycles of dose-intensive cyclophosphamide, etoposide, and cisplatin (DICEP) without bone marrow transplantation. Each cycle of DICEP consisted of cyclophosphamide (2500 mg/m2/day, days 1-2), etoposide (500 mg/m2/day, days 1-3), and cisplatin (50 mg/m2/day, days 1-3).

One of the principal issues concerning the analysis of industrial health care functioning is the problem of the practitioners' qualifications, including specialization. In the present paper the authors focus their attention on specializations of practitioners employed in regional Industrial Health Care Complexes. The analysis refers to two groups of problems concerning: a) those practitioners who are specialists in occupational health, and b) those who are going to obtain such specialization.

Plasma volume was decreased by prolonged bicycle exercise, by passive heating in warm water, by sauna dehydration, and by diuretically induced dehydration in eleven well trained subjects. Blood samples from an arm vein were taken before and after this pre-treatment, as well as after a subsequent standard exercise test (SET) on a bicycle ergometer (50%, 70% and 105% of max VO2; the SET with no pre-treatment was used as a control condition. The changes in plasma concentration of Na+, K+ and Cl- were not proportional to the calculated plasma volume changes.

This study examined the relationship between the delivery of insulin into the peritoneal space and its absorption into the peripheral circulation. Studies were performed in conscious dogs receiving somatostatin (5.0 microgram/min) to suppress endogenous insulin secretion, and intravenous glucose (50 mg/min) to prevent hypoglycemia.
