- Two or more focal planes are necessary for AR head-up displays (HUDs) to provide both basic and interactive driving information, but traditional methods using multiple picture generation units (PGUs) are costly and less reliable.
- To address this challenge, the proposed solution integrates a single PGU with a curved mirror that creates two focal planes by optically relaying one of the output areas.
- The final design achieves high image quality across specified eyepoints and has been successfully fabricated into a compact 8.5 L AR HUD for experimental testing.
