Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are high-profile organic pollutants to be poisonous, carcinogenic, and mutagenic, and widely distributed at trace levels in the environment. In order to effectively enrich PAHs, two stable covalent organic frameworks (COFs, TAPT-OMe-PDA and TPB-DMTP) were prepared by combining 2,4,6-tri(4-aminophenyl)-1,3,5-triazine (TAPT) and 1,3,5-tri(4-aminophenyl) benzene (TAPB) with 2,5-dimethoxy-phenyl-1,4-diformaldehyde (OMe-PDA), respectively. Even though the surface area of TAPT-OMe-PDA was much lower than that of TPB-DMTP, it still demonstrated much better extraction efficiencies towards PAHs as the solid phase microextraction (SPME) coating.

Synthetic mRNA switches are powerful cell fate manipulation tools that sense cellular input molecules to directly control protein expression at the translational level. The lack of available switch designs that can mimic the natural sophisticated protein regulation is a fundamental issue that limits the application of synthetic mRNA switches. Here we report a new set of synthetic mRNA switches by incorporating self-feedback loop machineries to dynamically control protein expression levels upon sensing cellular microRNAs.

Electrocatalytic CO reduction (ECR) to high value-added chemicals is an excellent method to attenuate the impact of greenhouse effect caused by CO. At the same time, multicarbon products (C) get extensive attention in view of their relatively high energy density and market price. At present, Cu is an important metal electrocatalyst to convert CO into multicarbon products ( ethylene, ethanol, and -propanol); however, its poor selectivity impedes its practical application.

A ratiometric electrochemical immunosensor is proposed for simultaneous detection of cellular-myelocytomatosis oncoprotein (C-myc) and B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) via the potential-resolved strategy. It relied on multi-role co-loaded alloy composites (CLACs) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT)-graphene oxide (GO)-multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) (PGM) modified electrodes. CLACs with good catalytic and enzyme-like properties were synthesized in one step by loading tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) or methylene blue (MB) into Pt-Pd alloy and used as label materials.

Cancer local recurrence increases the mortality of patients, and might be caused by field cancerization, a pre-malignant alteration of normal epithelial cells. It has been suggested that cancer-derived small extracellular vesicles (CDEs) may contribute to field cancerization, but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. In this study, we aim to identify the key regulatory factors within recipient cells under the instigation of CDEs.

Prior to the onset of vision, neurons in the developing mammalian retina spontaneously fire in correlated activity patterns known as retinal waves. Experimental evidence suggests that retinal waves strongly influence the emergence of sensory representations before visual experience. We aim to model this early stage of functional development by using movies of neurally active developing retinas as pre-training data for neural networks.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is an aggressive primary brain cancer that currently has minimally effective treatments. Like other cancers, immunosuppression by the PD-L1-PD-1 immune checkpoint complex is a prominent axis by which glioma cells evade the immune system. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), which are recruited to the glioma microenviroment, also contribute to the immunosuppressed GBM microenvironment by suppressing T cell functions.
