OTFS Radar Waveform Design Based on Information Theory.

In this work, we consider the waveform design for radar systems based on orthogonal time-frequency space (OTFS). The conditional mutual information (CMI), chosen as a promising metric for assessing the radar cognitive capability, serves as the criterion for OTFS waveform design. After formulating the OTFS waveform design problem based on maximizing CMI, we propose an equivalent waveform processing approach by minimizing the autocorrelation sidelobes and cross-correlations (ASaCC) of the OTFS transmitting matrix.

Association between Blood Trihalomethane Concentrations and the Risk of Dyslipidemia: Nationally Representative Cross-Sectional Study.

Investigating Causal Associations between the Gut Microbiota and Dementia: A Mendelian Randomization Study.

: The causal association of specific gut microbiota with dementia remains incompletely understood. We aimed to access the causal relationships in which one or more gut microbiota account for dementia. : Using data from the MiBioGen and FinnGen consortia, we employed multiple Mendelian randomization (MR) approaches including two-sample MR (TSMR), multivariable MR (MVMR), and Bayesian model averaging MR to comprehensively evaluate the causal associations between 119 genera and dementia, and to prioritize the predominant bacterium.

Variation in innate immune responses to porcine epidemic diarrhea virus infection in piglets at different ages.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) poses a significant threat to pigs, with piglets under seven days old facing a mortality rate of up to 100 %. This study aimed to explore the maturation of the immune system in piglets across different age groups and their corresponding immune responses to PEDV infection. Real-time quantitative PCR was employed to assess the relative mRNA expression of inflammation-related factors in infected pigs compared to non-infected counterparts at varying ages.

Causal Association between Circulating Metabolites and Dementia: A Mendelian Randomization Study.

The causal association of circulating metabolites with dementia remains uncertain. We assessed the causal association of circulating metabolites with dementia utilizing Mendelian randomization (MR) methods. We performed univariable MR analysis to evaluate the associations of 486 metabolites with dementia, Alzheimer's disease (AD), and vascular dementia (VaD) risk.

First identification and isolation of equine herpesvirus type 1 in aborted fetal lung tissues of donkeys.

Background: Equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) is commonly associated with horse abortion. Currently, there are no reported cases of abortion resulting from EHV-1 infection in donkeys.

Kirkovirus (kirV), a seemingly novel virus family, has been found in horses and donkeys. The study's objectives are to investigate the presence of the virus in swine. In this study, donkey-like kirV was detected in rectal swabs of piglets with diarrhea, and the positive rate was found to be 100% (149/149).

Identification of neuropathogenic Varicellovirus equidalpha1 as a potential cause of respiratory disease outbreaks among horses in North Xinjiang, China, from 2021-2023.

Background: Varicellovirus equidalpha1 (formerly Equid alphaherpesvirus 1, EqAHV-1) is among the most important viruses responsible for respiratory disease outbreaks among horses throughout the world. No reports to date have detailed the association between EqAHV-1 and respiratory disease among horses in China. This study described one such outbreak among a population of horses in north Xinjiang that occurred from April 2021 - May 2023.

Outbreak of neuropathogenic equid herpesvirus 1 causing abortions in Yili horses of Zhaosu, North Xinjiang, China.

Background: EHV-1 is one of the most serious viral pathogens that frequently cause abortion in horses around the world. However, so far, relatively little information is available on EHV-1 infections as they occur in China. In January 2021, during an abortion storm which occurred in Yili horses at the Chinese State Studs of Zhaosu (North Xinjiang, China), 43 out of 800 pregnant mares aborted.

Background: Diabetes is a common metabolic disease with an increasing incidence in middle-aged and elderly people in recent years. Methods: A total of 78 patients with DLBCL admitted to hospital and 30 healthy controls were enrolled as the case group and control group between August 2019 and June 2020, respectively. Identification and genomic characterization of emerging CRESS DNA viruses in thoroughbred horses in China.

Multiple novel circular replication-associated protein (Rep)-encoding single stranded (CRESS) DNA viruses have been extensively identified in the feces of humans and animals. Here, we first detected CRESS DNA virus (named Horse-CRESS DNA-like virus, HCLV) in two fecal samples from 10 imported thoroughbred (TB) horses in the customs quarantine station in North Xinjiang province, China. Additionally, we found that this virus was not detected in local breeds (LBs) (0/41) and was found only in imported TB horses (2/73).

Analysis of nurses' job burnout and coping strategies in hemodialysis centers.

In recent years, nursing has come to be considered a high-risk and high-pressure profession, given the fast-paced working environment and constant need to handle emergencies, especially for nurses working in hemodialysis centers. Nearly every day, nurses are confronted with life and death situations and are required to provide skilled, high quality care for their patients, in fast-paced and demanding environments. Thus, nurses are susceptible to both psychological stress and other mental health problems, making them more vulnerable to burnout when compared against other healthcare professions.

Burnout level and job satisfaction in Chinese pediatrics residents: A web-based cross-sectional study.

To study the prevalence of burnout and job satisfaction in Chinese pediatrics residents.Prospective participants were invited via a WeChat group to participate from October 1, 2018 to January 31, 2019. The Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey was used to measure physician burnout, and the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire was used to measure job satisfaction.

An emerging equine parvovirus circulates in thoroughbred horses in north Xinjiang, China, 2018.

In 2015, a novel equine parvovirus, equine parvovirus-cerebrospinal fluid (EqPV-CSF), was identified from cerebrospinal fluid of a horse with neurological signs and lymphocytosis in USA. In our study, an EqPV-CSF-like virus was detected from 15 serum samples of 65 imported thoroughbred horses during custom quarantine in north Xinjiang province, China. Further field investigation in several major horse-producing areas in Xinjiang using specific PCR showed that this virus was detected mainly in thoroughbred horses (39/154 positive) previously imported, not in local breeds (0/127 positive).

Suspensory ligament release combined with acellular dermal matrix filler in infrapubic space: A new method for penile length augmentation.

Until now, no reliable method is recognised in treating buried penis. This study explored a new method of penile length augmentation using acellular dermal matrix filler in infrapubic space combined with liposuction and penile suspensory release. Patients with "small-sized penis" received penile length augmentation procedure including suprapubic liposuction, penile suspensory ligament release and insertion of folded acellular dermal matrix between corpora cavernosa and pubis symphysis.

RNA-Seq-based transcriptomic profiling of primary interstitial cells of Cajal in response to bovine viral diarrhea virus infection.
