To improve the energy dissipation capacity of rubber isolation bearings, it is important to find a new rubber material with good applicability and high damping properties. Two types of blends were prepared using nitrile rubber (NBR), brominated butyl rubber (BIIR) and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA): NBR/BIIR and NBR/BIIR/EVA. The vulcanization, mechanical and damping properties of the blends were analyzed.

Multiple alterations in the expression level of genes and/or proteins have been identified in glioblastomas, including the activation of oncogenes and/or silencing of tumor-suppressor genes. Nevertheless, there are still no effective targeted therapies associated with these changes.

Therefore water-retaining asphalt mixture was produced by adding super absorbent polymer (SAP) containing cement mortar to the porous asphalt mixture. In this study, the water absorption capacity, mechanical strength and fluidity of the cured water-retaining mortar were investigated to determine the optimum SAP dosage in water-retaining mortar.

The expression of a full-length InlA is one of essential virulence factors for to cross the intestinal barrier in order to invade epithelial cells.
Results: In this study, the gene sequences of inlA in 120 isolates from food (n = 107) and humans (n = 13) were analyzed.

Tumor cells can escape immune destruction in tumor chemoresistance, but the mechanism for this phenomenon remains unclear. Y-box binding protein 1 (YB-1), which is upregulated in chemoresistant tumor cells, plays a role in the acquisition of multidrug resistance. Here, we demonstrate that chemotherapy induced an immunosuppressive microenvironment in the tumor and induced immune evasion through YB-1-mediated programmed death-1 ligand 1 (PD-L1) upregulation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA photocurable silk fibroin hydrogel is prepared, for the first time, using natural silk protein fibroin and biophotosensitizer riboflavin. Riboflavin is excited by ultraviolet light to generate a triplet state which is transferred to produce active oxygen radicals with singlet oxygen as the main component. Active oxygen radicals can induce chemical cross-linking of amino-, phenol- and other groups in the silk fibroin macromolecules to form a photocurable hydrogel.

We aimed to elucidate the mechanisms underlying PD-L1 upregulation in human tumor microenvironments, which remain poorly understood despite the clinical success of immune checkpoint inhibitors.
Methods: Monocytes/macrophages were purified from peripheral blood, non-tumor, or paired tumor tissues of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and their possible glycolytic switch was evaluated.

Silk fibroin has widely been used in biomedical applications for its excellent biocompatibility, degradability, and mechanical properties. Microneedles are a suitable method for transdermal drug delivery. In this work, we have prepared microneedles using silk fibroin as the main material and have added proline to change its crystal structure.

However, the electron transfer in 1D electron transporting layer (ETL)-based devices is still limited to a submicrometer-long pathway that is vertical to the substrate. Here, an innovative closely packed rutile TiO nanowire (CRTNW) network parallel to the facet of fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate is reported, which can serve as a 1D nanoscale electron transport pathway for efficient perovskite solar cells (PSCs).

The tree shrew is now generally accepted as being among the closest living relatives of primates, and has been widely used in animal experimentation. However, there are few reports on islet cell composition and regeneration of β-cells in tree shrews.

Here we put forward a way to raise the resolution of telescopes simply by adding a binary optical thin surface around its focal plane. Simulation results show that the surface can raise the image quality in the Cassegrain and Kepler telescope.

Herein, we report a novel lead-free zero-dimensional (0D) indium-based perovskite (Cs InBr ⋅H O) single crystal that is red-luminescent with a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 33 %. Experimental and computational studies reveal that the strong PL emission might originate from self-trapping excitons (STEs) that result from an excited-state structural deformation.

We investigated whether, or how, plasma cells differentiate and function in patients with HCC and mice with liver tumors.
Methods: We analyzed subset composition and distribution of plasma cells in HCC samples from 342 patients who underwent curative resection at the Cancer Center of Sun Yat-sen University in China; samples of non-tumor liver tissue were used as controls.

We demonstrate a vortex beam generator meta-surface that consists of silver structures and graphene layers. The miniature material is just a few microns in size and the working part is only a few hundred nanometers thick. With the incidence of the linearly polarized beam, the meta-surface generates high-localized vector vortex beam with a high proportion of the longitudinal component.

Nitrosamines (NAms) are potent genotoxic and carcinogenic but widely detected in drinking water. This study aimed to investigate the occurrence of major types of NAms in drinking water in Shaoxing, China, and to conduct multi-pathway probabilistic cancer risk (CR) assessment to residents based on age-dependent adjustment Chinese exposure factors. Results showed that concentrations of NAms in water varied from not detected (ND) to dozens of nanograms per liter level.

Exposure to metals, PAHs, and their combined pollutants can alter microRNA (miRNA) expression patterns.
