Objective: This study aims to investigate the efficacy of microsurgery with intraoperative indocyanine green (ICG) angiography as a treatment approach for ethmoidal dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF).

Methods: Between January 2010 and July 2021, our institution encountered a total of eight cases of ethmoidal DAVF. In each of these cases, microsurgical treatment was undertaken utilizing a bilateral sub-frontal interhemispheric approach, with the aid of intraoperative ICG angiography.

Two hitherto unknown highly modified abietane diterpenoids, namely salviapritin A () and salviapritin B (), were isolated from the ethanol extract of , together with 17 known compounds. Their chemical structures were established by extensive spectroscopic methods (ESIMS, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR) and by comparison of their NMR data with those of related analogues. Salviapritin A is the first example of a trinorabietane diterpenoid possessing an acenaphthylene skeleton from the genus.

Purpose: To better understand the performance of four commercially available neurovascular stents in intracranial aneurysm embolization, the stents were compared in terms of their basic morphological and mechanical properties.

Methods: In 63 patients with SDAVF between 1993 and 2015, the feeder origin of the SDAVF was evaluated to determine whether it was concomitant with the origin of the ASA or PSA.

Easy Advancement of a Large-Profile Microcatheter (Excelsior XT27™) by Parallel Use of Two Microguidewires For Stent Delivery.

Purpose: In the endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms, navigating a large-bore microcatheter for delivery of an open-cell stent can be challenging, especially in wide-necked bifurcation aneurysms. We were able to overcome this difficulty by parallel use of two microguidewires through the stent-delivery microcatheter.

Materials And Methods: From December 2014 to April 2015, we treated 15 patients with wide-necked bifurcation aneurysms.

Since the 3rd WIN meeting in 1982 more than 500 participants join the meeting in Val D'Isere every year [1]. One of our authors has attended the meeting more than 10 times. He experienced many physical illnesses while travelling from South Korea to Val D'Isere in France, which is located in the Alps mountain near the border between France and Italy.

"Two-coil technique" for embolization of small internal carotid artery aneurysms incorporating the origin of the anterior choroidal artery.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to evaluate the efficacy, safety and stability of the "two-coil technique."

Materials And Methods: We evaluated a single-center experience by using a two-coil technique, which is a variation of the multiple-microcatheter technique in the treatment of a small internal carotid artery aneurysm with its sac incorporated with the origin of the anterior choroidal artery. Six consecutive patients with small ICA aneurysms with its sac incorporated with origin of the anterior choroidal artery and treated with the two-coil technique were included in this study.

Many new parasitic infections have emerged in Korea, with >35 new species appearing since the 1980s. Among them, Capillaria species are unique for contributing to morbidity in many countries as well as in Korea. Since the first reported case of a 41-year-old male patient diagnosed with intestinal capillariasis in 1991, a total of six cases have been reported thus far.

Background/aims: Sequential antiviral therapy for chronic hepatitis B may lead to the selection of multidrug-resistant mutation. This study was carried out to assess the efficacy of entecavir in patients that have experienced adefovir monotherapy failure after the development of lamivudine resistance.

Methodology: Fifty-three patients with confirmed genotypic lamivudine-resistant chronic hepatitis B were treated with entecavir.

A case of emphysematous hepatitis with spontaneous pneumoperitoneum in a patient with hilar cholangiocarcinoma.

An 80-year-old woman with hilar cholangiocarcinoma was hospitalized due to sudden-onset abdominal pain. Computed tomography revealed hepatic necrosis accompanied with emphysematous change in the superior segment of the right liver (S7/S8), implying spontaneous rupture, based on the presence of perihepatic free air. Although urgent percutaneous drainage was performed, neither pus nor fluids were drained.

[The effect of periampullary diverticulum on the outcome of bile duct stone treatment with endoscopic papillary large balloon dilation].

Background/aims: Periampullary diverticulum (PAD) causes difficulty in the extraction of common bile duct (CBD) stones with conventional endoscopic therapy. Our study was designed to evaluate the effect of PAD on endoscopic large balloon dilation (EPLBD) with/without limited endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST) for CBD stone treatment.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed cases of 141 patients treated CBD stones by EPLBD with/without limited EST at Gachon Gil Medical Center from September 2008 to February 2010.

Background/aims: Most patients with acute viral hepatitis A have a favorable course, but a few of them suffer from severe forms of hepatitis such as fulminant hepatitis. This study was carried out to identify the factors influencing the severity of acute viral hepatitis A.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 713 patients with acute hepatitis A, who were divided into two groups: severe hepatitis A (N=87) and non-severe hepatitis A (N=626).

Rescue strategies against non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug-induced gastroduodenal damage.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are the most commonly prescribed drugs worldwide, which attests to their efficacy as analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory agents as well as anticancer drugs. However, NSAID use also carries a risk of major gastroduodenal events, including symptomatic ulcers and their serious complications that can lead to fatal outcomes. The development of "coxibs" (selective cyclooxygenase-2 [COX-2] inhibitors) offered similar efficacy with reduced toxicity, but this promise of gastroduodenal safety has only partially been fulfilled, and is now dented with associated risks of cardiovascular or intestinal complications.
