In 2001 the investigation of physicians in the Lublin Voivodship was carried out using the interview technique concerning the medical care of the alcohol abusing patients. The aim of the second part of investigations was the analysis of reasons and circumstances of alcohol abuse by the patients of SPZOZ. It was stated that there were some serious gaps in the recognition of patients' needs by general practitioners as well as in the quality of medical care.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe study evaluated the value of the contract of the Lublin Regional Health Board per 1 physician's and 1 nurse's post in the hospitals of the Lublin region in four basic departments. According to the usage of existing staff resources, the evaluation revealed significant differences in the average contract value per 1 physician's and 1 nurse's post in the selected departments. The differences are observed in the departments of the same and of different specialties, therefore they create different conditions for potential intensity of work in the examined units.

There is shortage with respect to the recognition of needs and quality of care of alcohol abusing patients among primary health care physicians. The alcohol abusing patient is usually a man, 35-40 aged, married, not educated, farmer of low living standard. In both institutions of health care physicians are not well prepared for care of alcohol abusing patients whereby the number of properly trained physicians in rural dispensaries is twice as small as in commune health centers.
