Model of Social Support for Patients Treated for Cancer.

Social support can be one of the main factors in better assessing the quality of life at any stage of the recovery process. It should meet the patient's needs so that they can develop constructive methods of coping with the disease. In order to explain the factors influencing social support for cancer patients, a theoretical research model was formulated.

The links between posttraumatic stress, attachment patterns and quality of life in incarcerated and addicted women. The role of resilience.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to determine the relationships between negative as well as traumatic childhood experiences and posttraumatic stress, quality of life and attachment in addicted and/or incarcerated women.

Methods: Family of Origin Dysfunction Scale (Skala Dysfunkcjonalności Rodziny Pochodzenia, SDRP-2) by Gąsior, Trauma Symptom Inventory (TSI-2) by Briere, Adult Attachment Scale (AAS) by Collins and Read, Life Satisfaction Questionnaire by Fahrenberg et al., and Resilience Measure Questionnaire (Kwestionariusz Oceny Prężności, KOP-26) by Gąsior, Chodkiewicz and Cechowski.

Validation of the Polish version of the Penn Alcohol Craving Scale (PACS).

Objectives: The conducted studies were aimed at making a Polish adaptation of the Penn Alcohol Craving Scale (PACS) by B. Flannery and co-workers. The Scale is a self-assessment method, it comprises 5 statements, and is designed to assess alcohol craving experienced by a patient in a week prior to the examination.

Polish Adaptation of the Psychache Scale by Ronald Holden and Co-workers.

Objectives: The conducted study was aimed at making a Polish adaptation of the Scale of Psychache by Ronald Holden and co-workers. The scale is a self-assessment method which comprises 13 statements and is designed to assess subjectively experienced psychological pain.

Methods: 300 persons were examined - undergraduates and postgraduates of the University of Lodz and the Technical University of Lodz.

The Polish Version of the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale, Modified to Reflect Obsessions and Compulsions Related to Heavy Drinking (YBOCS-hd-PL).

Background: The aim of the research work was to present the process of adapting the Polish version of the YBOCS-hd by Modell and colleagues (Alcohol Clin Exp Res 1992;16:266) to Polish conditions and to characterize the psychometric validation of the measure (e.g., validity, internal structure, and reliability).
