A new technique has been devised for high-continuity recording of cervical dilatation during labour. The measuring principle is based on Hall's effect. The sensor is superior to conventional methods by its smaller dimensions and weight and the possibility of on-line processing.

In 100 children with acute lymphatic leukaemia the cytomorphological subclassification of the pathological cell type was made according to Mathé and the French-American-British Co-operative group (FAB). In addition, all cases of leukaemia were differentiated according to their cytochemical type. Lymphoblasts from 10 cases of leukaemia could be subclassified immunologically.

Investigations with lymphocyte subpopulations were made in 51 children aged from 1-14 years with infections of the upper airways, with acute leukaemias, and other malignant diseases. T-lymphocytes were registered by means of the spontaneous rosette test. The attempt of proving B-lymphocytes was made by means of an EAC test with human erythrocytes, anti-D-immunoglobulins and human complement.

Twenty-three patients with primary osteoporosis were treated with sodium fluoride over 25 months. Mean total dose was 21 g fluoride. Symptoms, body size, biochemical results, radiological changes and skeletal mineral content as well as bone histomorphometry were evaluated in assessing results of treatment.

Intraventricular injection of arginine-8-vasopressin and its analogues vasotocin and lysine-8-vasopressin into rat brain evoked a special rotational behavior resembling somatostatin-induced barrel rotation [1]. Oxytocin and oxypressin were less active while vasopressin fragments had no effect. Vasopressin-induced barrel rotation was accompanied by pathological symptoms indicating a disturbance of muscle tone regulation and is considered to be a non-specific and toxic effect.

Three major metabolites (M1, M2, M3) of nomifensine (8-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-2-methyl-4-phenyl-isoquinoline) are formed by hydroxylation and methoxylation of the phenyl ring. They were compared with nomifensine 1. in various psychopharmacological tests in vivo, carried out in mice after oral or i.

The recidive-free phases, survival times and the number of long surviging patients were recorded in 64 children with cytochemically differentiated ALL. A significantly more favourable course of ALL of PAS type could be observed as compared with the undifferentiated type and partially with the esterase type, too. According to the present findings the cytochemical examinations of ALL can be recommended in the initial phase of leukaemia as a prognostic evaluation.

On the basis of their ability of the spontaneous formation of rosettes by unsensibilised sheep erythrocytes the proportion of thymic lymphatic cells in 7 acute and 3 chronic lymphatic leukaemias was determined. Further observations on the content of T-cells in the peripheral blood were performed in leukoses, whereby the remission was begun with prednisone and cytostatics, under the immune stimulation with BCG during the remission and in 3 children with lymphogranulomatosis before and after splenectomy. The results of the acute stage of leucosis refer to the possibility of a prognostic evidence with the subclassification of the ALL.
