The effect of safety modifications on head kinematics experienced during common skills in women's artistic gymnastics.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of skill modifications on head motion experienced during women's artistic gymnastics skills. Nine gymnasts (four beginner and five advanced) completed three trials of up to 24 skill progressions, each consisting of a skill and two progressive safety modifications. Gymnasts were instrumented with mouthpiece sensors embedded with an accelerometer and gyroscope collecting motion data at 200, 300, and 500 Hz during each skill performance.

Nurse retention remains a pivotal issue, necessitating urgent strategies aimed at the recruitment and retention of highly qualified nurses. However, there is limited knowledge regarding the influence of nurses' personal and professional values, along with work environment, on predicting intent to leave an organization. Utilizing a secondary analysis approach, this study employed logistic regression to predict intent to leave among registered nurses (n = 671) using results from the Short Schwartz's Value Survey, the Nurses Professional Values Scale-3, and the Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index.

Assistive Technology's Potential to Improve Employment of People with Disabilities.

Purpose: This study investigates how access to assistive technologies affects employment and earnings among people with disabilities.

Methods: We first document employment and earnings gaps associated with specific impairments and activity limitations using 2017-2021 American Community Survey and 2014 Survey of Income and Program Participation data. We then use accommodations data from the 2012, 2019, and 2021 Current Population Survey (CPS) Disability Supplements to examine employment and earnings growth for people with disabilities related both to any, and to technology-based, accommodations.

The purpose of this study was to investigate if consumption of a high-protein, low-carbohydrate breakfast (PRO) leads to a lower subsequent ad libitum energy intake at lunch and the rest of the day compared with ingestion of an isocaloric low-protein, high-carbohydrate breakfast (CHO) or no breakfast (CON). The study was designed as a randomized controlled 3-period crossover study. Thirty young (18-30 yr) females with overweight to obesity (body mass index >25 kg/m) in random order completed 3 separate experimental days where they consumed either a PRO, CHO, or CON breakfast test meal followed by an ad libitum lunch meal 3 h after breakfast.

The recovery of muscle function and glycogen levels following game-play in young elite male ice hockey players.

Despite the frequent occurrence of congested game fixtures in elite ice hockey, the postgame recovery pattern has not previously been investigated. The purpose of the present study was therefore to evaluate the acute decrements and subsequent recovery of skeletal muscle glycogen levels, muscle function and repeated-sprint ability following ice hockey game-play. Sixteen male players from the Danish U20 national team completed a training game with muscle biopsies obtained before, postgame and following ~38 h of recovery (day 2).

Optimization of non-endorectal prostate MR image quality using PI-QUAL: A multidisciplinary team approach.

Purpose: To evaluate the utility of the PI-QUAL score in assessing protocol changes aimed to improve image quality from a non-endorectal coil prostate MR imaging protocol during a 9-month quality improvement (QI) project and to quantify the inter-reader agreement of PI-QUAL scores between radiologists, technologists, and physicists.

Methods: This retrospective study audited 1,012 multiparametric prostate MRI examinations as part of a national QI project according to the PI-QUAL standard. PI-QUAL scores were used to inform MR protocol changes.

Leclercia adecarboxylata and Pseudomonas oryzihabitans are two bacteria rarely seen in human infections. We present an unusual case of a patient who developed a localized infection with these bacteria after repair of a ruptured Achilles tendon. We also present a review of the literature regarding infection with these bacteria within the lower extremity.

Introduction: Year-round training is standard for elite gymnasts in the United States, but the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic led to unprecedented training interruptions. The effect of these training disruptions is unknown.

Objective: This study aimed to describe and compare training interruptions in elite gymnasts before and during the pandemic, the time it took to return to the prior level of gymnastics training, the development of injuries during return to gymnastics training, and gymnast-reported difficulty in and nervousness about returning to prior level of gymnastics training.

High-fidelity simulation training improves resident knowledge of contrast reaction management, especially for junior residents.

Rationale And Objectives: Contrast reactions are rare but serious events, frequently managed independently by Radiology Residents, who are likely underprepared to lead the acute event response. At our tertiary care center, Radiology Residents are the first responders to contrast reaction scenarios, and previously had didactic only training. Burns affect millions every year and a model to mimic the pathophysiology of such injuries in detail is required to better understand regeneration.
