A new clear-cut strategy for fusing N-heterocyclic and carbon-pure systems is introduced en route to a versatile platform of multi-purpose tetrapyrrolic chromophores. In particular, three novel C-C bond-fused porphyrin-hexabenzocoronene (HBC) conjugates were synthesized under oxidative cyclodehydrogenation conditions, starting from tailor-made nickel porphyrin precursors. The fusion of the individual aromatic systems via 5-membered rings led to highly soluble π-extended porphyrins in excellent yields.

Prescription of medications for alcohol-use disorder (AUD) and close outpatient follow-up are commonly recommended, but few studies report their effects on postdischarge outcomes.
Objectives: The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of medications for AUD and follow-up appointments on readmission and abstinence.
The "X+Y" residency scheduling model includes "X" weeks of uninterrupted inpatient or subspecialty rotations, followed by "Y" week(s) of uninterrupted outpatient rotations. The optimal ratio of X to Y is unclear. Determine the impact of moving from a 6+2 to a 3+1 schedule on patient access to care, perceived quality of care, and resident/faculty satisfaction.

As a result, they secrete signaling molecules that mediate bone formation and resorption. To date, few three-dimensional (3D) models exist to study the response of mature osteocytes to biophysical stimuli that mimic fluid shear stress and substrate strain in a mineralized, biomimetic bone-like environment.

The nano-TiO layer was produced by a novel combination of magnetron sputtering of a thin titanium layer on silicon carbide (SiC) membranes, followed by electrochemical oxidation (anodization) and subsequent heat treatment (HT). Characterization by Raman spectra and field emission scanning electron microscopy proved the presence of a nanostructured anatase layer on the membranes.

Ten healthy subjects were scanned at two timepoints (7 ± 3 days apart) with a 3 T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. Scanning sessions included T1ρ and T2* acquisitions of each knee in two conditions: unloaded (traditional MRI setup) and loaded in compression at 40 % bodyweight as applied by an MRI-compatible loading device.

To investigate decision-making in autism, we evaluated performance on 2 computerized tasks capturing decision-making under explicit risk and uncertainty in autistic and non-autistic adolescents/young adults ages 12-22 years. Participants completed the Game of Dice Task (32 IQ-matched participant pairs) to assess decision-making under explicit risk and the modified Iowa Gambling Task (35 IQ-matched pairs) to assess decision-making under uncertainty.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients hospitalized with alcohol withdrawal on medical or surgical wards in 19 Veteran Health Administration (VHA) hospitals between October 1, 2018, and September 30, 2019. Demographic and comorbidity data were obtained from the Veteran Health Administration Corporate Data Warehouse.
The Oceans and Coastal Information Management System (OCIMS) was launched by the South African Government in 2015 to support the development and governance of the South African ocean economy. The OCIMS has established knowledge tools for marine spatial planning, maritime domain awareness, search and rescue, water quality and harmful algal bloom monitoring. Those tools are used daily by stakeholders across government departments, industry, and civil society.

Triplet dynamics in singlet fission depend strongly on the strength of the electronic coupling. Covalent systems in solution offer precise control over such couplings. Nonetheless, efficient free triplet generation remains elusive in most systems, as the intermediate triplet pair (T T ) is prone to triplet-triplet annihilation due to its spatial confinement.

Purpose: To identify additional risk factors for concomitant meniscal injury, including preinjury joint laxity and lower extremity alignment, in athletes with sport-related ACL injury.
Study Design: Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3.
Federated multipartner machine learning has been touted as an appealing and efficient method to increase the effective training data volume and thereby the predictivity of models, particularly when the generation of training data is resource-intensive. In the landmark MELLODDY project, indeed, each of ten pharmaceutical companies realized aggregated improvements on its own classification or regression models through federated learning. To this end, they leveraged a novel implementation extending multitask learning across partners, on a platform audited for privacy and security.

In the past, inhalation and dermal exposure during spraying have been investigated extensively. Currently, however, no exposure data are available for foaming, hindering a reliable risk assessment for foam applications of biocidal products.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe application of biocidal products by foam is considered an alternative to droplet spraying when disinfecting surfaces or fighting infestations. Inhalation exposure to aerosols containing the biocidal substances cannot be ruled out during foaming. In contrast to droplet spraying, very little is known about aerosol source strength during foaming.

As our target is the engineering of the glycocalyx, we designed a functionalized lipid anchor for the introduction into cellular membranes called Functional Lipid Anchor for MEmbranes (FLAME). Since cholesterol incorporates very effectively into membranes, we developed a twice cholesterol-substituted anchor in a total synthesis by applying protecting group chemistry.

Covalently linked dimers provide crucial models for understanding the role of chromophore arrangement and coupling in SF. Sensitizers can be integrated into these systems to expand the absorption bandwidth through which SF can be accessed.

This is particularly important given that DLS predict outcomes as autistic adolescents transition to adulthood.
Methods: We pilot-tested the assessment section of two modules of the Computerized Functional Skills Assessment and Training program (CFSAT) in 25 autistic ( = 4 female) and 25 non-autistic ( = 6 female) adolescents and young adults to evaluate preliminary feasibility in an autistic sample.
We investigate the gas-phase chemistry of noncovalent complexes of [10]cycloparaphenylene ([10]CPP) with C and C by means of atmospheric pressure photoionization and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The literature-known [1 : 1] complexes, namely [10]CPP⊃C and [10]CPP⊃C , are observed as radical cations and anions. Their stability and charge distribution are studied using energy-resolved collision-induced dissociation (ER-CID).

The compound is accessible through an intramolecular oxidative cyclodehydrogenation of tri(1-naphthyl)amine. To the best of our knowledge this is the very first example of a direct 3-fold cyclization of a triarylamine under oxidative conditions.

Parents of autistic adolescents were more likely to report that their child plays video games as a hobby compared to parents of adolescents with typical development and also reported that their children spent more time playing video games. For autistic participants, we found no differences in aggression levels or social impairment when comparing players versus non-players.
