Background: Subcutaneous treprostinil has dose-dependent beneficial effects in patients with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension, but adverse effects like infusion site pain can lead to treatment discontinuation.
Objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate safety, tolerability and clinical effects of a rapid up-titration dosing regimen of subcutaneous treprostinil using proactive infusion site pain management.
Methods: Effects of rapid up-titration dosing regimen on tolerability and clinical parameters were evaluated in this 16-week, open-label multi-centre study.
Currently available diagnostic modalities for the detection of graft vasculopathy following orthotopic heart transplantation are subject to various restrictions. We hypothesized that cardiogoniometry, a novel non-invasive diagnostic tool for the detection of atherosclerotic coronary vessel disease, is applicable in the graft vasculopathy setting. Materials And Methods: We used biotin and avidin to cross-link anti E/P-Selectin monoclonal antibody to pre-formed Superfect-DNA complexes that were then used to transfect reporter genes to CHO cells expressing E-Selectin, cytokine-activated primary Human Saphenous Vein Endothelial Cells (HSVEC) and whole vein segments.
Objective: This experimental study investigated the hemodynamic effect of corrective procedures for arteriovenous access-related ischemia in pulsatile flow.
Methods: Silicone models of an emulated tapered and bifurcated arterial tree of the upper arm and forearm were integrated into a pulsatile flow circuit. The model allowed the study of hemodynamics of simulated arteriovenous fistulas, including collateral circulation, as well as the study of different simulated procedures to improve distal hypoperfusion.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted of 95 patients (78 with ischemia, 17 with cardiac failure) who underwent flow reduction between 1999 and 2005. A preoperatively measured access flow-volume rate > 800 mL/min for autogenous accesses (n = 77) and > 1200 mL/min for prosthetic accesses (n = 18) was the selection criterion for the use of a flow reduction procedure.
