Introduction: This is an observational study of emergency departments (ED) in California to identify factors related to the magnitude of ED utilization by patients with mental health needs.
Methods: In 2010, an online survey was administered to ED directors in California querying them about factors related to the evaluation, timeliness to appropriate psychiatric treatment, and disposition of patients presenting to EDs with psychiatric complaints.
Results: One hundred twenty-three ED directors from 42 of California's 58 counties responded to the survey.
We report the clinical signs and the effects on leukocyte neurotoxic esterase and red blood cell and plasma acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activities in swine orally administered a single dose of tri-o-cresyl phosphate (TOCP) at 400, 800 or 1000 mg/kg. Swine in all dosage groups exhibited signs consistent with inhibition of nervous tissue cholinesterase 3-48 h after TOCP administration. Onset was dose-related, and 2/3 1000 mg/kg dosed swine died 3 or 35 h postdosing.

Pathologic responses were compared in rabbits immunized intravenously or mucosally with P. multocida or with J5, a cross protective core LPS mutant of E.

Tissue samples from the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, and colon from 12 dogs were collected, using the following methods: method 1, longitudinally incising the intestine along the antimesenteric border and stapling the free ends of the intestine to a wooden tongue depressor; method 2, ligating the ends of an unopened length of intestine and injecting the lumen with formalin; method 3, longitudinally incising the intestine along the antimesenteric border and laying the opened intestine on a dry paper towel with the serosal surface down; method 4, placing a segment of unopened and uninjected intestine directly into formalin; and method 5, longitudinally incising the intestine along the antimesenteric border. All tissues were fixed by immersion in neutral-buffered 10% formalin and were processed, using routine histologic techniques.

The cattle were given (orally) a single dosage of lasalocid (1, 10, 50, or 100 mg/kg of body weight) or monensin (25 mg/kg of body weight) or rice hulls. Animals were observed once a day until they died or were euthanatized at 32 days after the dose was given.

During 1975 to 1977, serum samples were collected from 101 adult coyotes (Canis latrans) captured in northcentral Kansas. Ten samples were seropositive by microagglutination testing and six of those samples were seropositive for multiple serovars. Titers for Leptospira interrogans serovars grippotyphosa, pyrogenes, djasiman, butembo, and pomona were demonstrated.
