Anaplasma platys and Ehrlichia canis are members of the Anaplasmataceae family that cause disease in dogs and are mainly transmitted by Rhipicephalus sanguineus species group ticks. We performed a cross-sectional study on these pathogens across six bioclimatic regions of Chile, including 719 free-ranging rural dogs, 132 Andean foxes (Lycalopex culpaeus), and 82 South American gray foxes (Lycalopex griseus). Voriconazole in the successful management of a case of Acanthamoeba-Cladosporium keratitis.

Purpose: Acanthamoeba and fungal infections can be recalcitrant to therapy - more so when the deeper layers of the corneas are involved. We describe the diagnosis and successful management strategies employed in a case of deep keratitis due to co-infection with Acanthamoeba and Cladosporium sp.

Observations: Once the diagnosis of co-infection with both Acanthamoeba and Cladosporium was made, treatment was initiated with a combination of PHMB, chlorhexidine, natamycin, and voriconazole; to which the response was favorable.

The coronary angiographic (CAG) findings of ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) in patients of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) range from increased coronary artery thrombus burden to normal coronaries due to STEMI mimics. Here we report the case of a 45-year-old gentleman who presented with evolved inferior wall myocardial infarction with ongoing angina along with mild COVID-19. CAG showed normal epicardial coronaries except for distal right posterior descending coronary artery (RPDA) 100% occlusion on careful examination.

A simple technique to mitigate microplastic pollution and its mobility (via ballast water) in the global ocean.

Ballast water transport is considered as one of the major vectors for dispersal of microplastics around the global oceans. In this commentary, a simple, inexpensive solution has been proposed to reduce microplastic pollution and its mobility via ballast water. A screening chamber (with stainless steel three layered mesh) is proposed to be attached to the existing Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTSs) in cargo ships to filter back-flushed sea water from BWTSs.
