Therefore, there is a growing demand for new production strains with enhanced resistance to extreme conditions, versatile metabolic capabilities and the ability to utilise cost-effective renewable resources while efficiently generating attractive biobased products. Particular thermophilic microorganisms fulfil these requirements.
