In the first of this two-part article on the 'optimum mobility' facelift, facial tissue mobility was analyzed, and three theories or mechanisms emerged: 'intrinsic mobility', 'surgically induced mobility' and 'optimum mobility points'.In this second part, these three theories are applied to a rhytidectomy procedure termed 'optimum mobility' facelift. Before surgery, 'optimum mobility points' are marked on the skin.

Effect of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 7 on bone density during distraction osteogenesis of the rabbit mandible.

Objectives: To examine whether the quality of bone generation in distraction osteogenesis of the rabbit mandible is enhanced by administering recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 7 (rhBMP-7) to the lengthened site at the end of the distraction phase.

Study Design: Prospective randomized study of 24 rabbits undergoing distraction osteogenesis of the mandible, followed by injection of rhBMP-7 or a lactate buffer.

Settings: McGill University animal care facility.

Applications of aminolevulinic Acid-based photodynamic therapy in cosmetic facial plastic practices.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) using aminolevulinic acid (ALA) is a promising new technique that is being studied extensively and used in a variety of cosmetic facial plastic arenas. These applications include U.S.
