Combination of thioridazine and dicloxacillin as a possible treatment strategy of staphylococci.

We have previously shown that the phenothiazine, thioridazine, acts in synergy with the beta-lactam antibiotic, dicloxacillin, to kill methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. In this study, we investigated whether synergy by combining these two drugs could also be observed in vancomycin intermediate susceptible S. aureus (VISA) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE).
