The genetic factor structure of a range of learning measures was explored in twin children, recruited in preschool and followed to Grade 2 (total = 2084). Measures of orthographic learning and word reading were included in the analyses to determine how these patterned with the learning processes. An exploratory factor analysis of the genetic correlations among the variables indicated a three-factor model.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Kristi Boehme"

  • - Kristi Boehme's research primarily focuses on the genetic influences on learning and early reading development in children, particularly within twin populations.
  • - Her 2013 study, published in "Scientific Studies of Reading," involved a large sample size of 2,084 twin children and utilized multivariate genetic analyses to unpack the genetic underpinnings of various learning processes and measures of orthographic learning and word reading.
  • - The findings revealed a three-factor model indicating distinct genetic correlations among different learning measures, highlighting the complexity of genetic contributions to early reading and cognitive development.
