Greater HD time and/or frequency may improve survival, but implementation requires understanding potential benefits across the range of patients.
Methods: Using data from the Australia and New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry, we assessed whether quotidian HD (defined as >3 sessions/week and/or >5 h/session) was associated with reduced mortality in adult patients.
Aim: People with chronic kidney disease experience high rates of cardiovascular disease. Cholesterol-lowering therapy is a mainstay in the management but there is uncertainty in the treatment effects on patient-important outcomes, such as fatigue and rhabdomyolysis. The prevalence of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) use in kidney transplant recipients in Australia is unknown.
