To assess the incidence, risk factors, and treatment outcomes in intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection (IVTA) induced intraocular pressure rise and to compare IOP rise in 1-mg and 2-mg IVTA. Prospective observational study conducted in all eyes receiving IVTA. Any pre-existing glaucoma and patients who received IVTA or dexamethasone implant in the last 6 months were excluded.

Methods: A prospective interventional analysis of preoperative systemic and ocular features of 56 eyes of 28 seropositive infants of less than 12 months presenting to us with bilateral cataract was performed. All infants were surgically treated with cataract extraction, posterior capsulorhexis, and anterior vitrectomy followed by visual rehabilitation.
Settings And Design: This study documents a survey of final-year ophthalmology postgraduates on the subject of their surgical training and their future plans after residency.
Purpose: This survey aimed to answer the question, "What is the present status of surgical training in ophthalmic training centers?" by obtaining information from students about (1) various methods used in surgical training (2) numbers and types of surgeries performed by them in the training centers (3) their plans after residency.
Materials And Methods: A questionnaire containing 21 questions was distributed to 155 students attending an intensive 4-day teaching program.
Background And Aims: This study documents a survey of final-year ophthalmology postgraduate students on the subject of their residency training. A similar survey conducted 7 years ago published in IJO had concluded that the residency program was not up to expectations in many centers. Our study aimed to see if ophthalmology training and student perceptions differed since then.

The observed behavior is far from a monotonic expansion that one might have expected from a classical point of view. Subsequently a new method is proposed to predict the nonelectrostatic part of the electromechanical actuation response of the nanotube based on the spatial distribution of its molecular orbitals.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe mechanical actuation of a (5, 5) single-walled carbon nanotube as a result of added charge is simulated using first-principles calculations. It is observed that while both positive and negative charging tend to expand the nanotube in the axial direction for most levels of charge, radial actuation is less even and symmetric with respect to charge. The spin distribution of the additional charges is investigated, and it is predicted that in some cases unpaired spin configurations are energetically favourable, significantly affecting actuation strains.

Aim: The current study was undertaken to detect the male fetal population using Y STR markers DYS 19, DYS 385 and DYS 392 and also to study the extent of persistence of fetal DNA in the mother following delivery.
Materials And Methods: Blinded study was conducted on 50 mothers delivering male and female babies.
We report an unusual case of poisoning involving the white seed variety of Abrus precatorius that caused serious manifestations in a middle-aged male who had consumed the seeds on the advice of a folk medicine practitioner. He recovered after a prolonged duration of hospital treatment without any subsequent complications or sequelae. The case is being reported on account of its rarity.
