Background: Traumatic dental injuries are most commonly seen in school age children. This not only affects physical, but, also, the psychological and social well-being of a child. The aim of the present study was to assess the prevalence of traumatic dental injuries in school children aged between 8 and 13 years and their association with the demographics and other predisposing risk factors.

Intracellular calcium ([Ca ] ) concentration plays a significant role in the regulation of ASM contraction, relaxation, proliferation, and gene expression. We investigated the effects of O on agonist-stimulated changes in [Ca ] in ASM cells.

Methods: We reported a case of a 65-year-old, diabetic and hypertensive male who presented with sudden onset of superficial hemianesthesia, allodynia, severe and paroxysmal pain on the right side of the body with choreoathetoid movements in the upperN limb, along with slured speech, and unsteadiness while walking.
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) cancer stem cells (GSCs) are one of the strongest contributing factors to treatment resistance in GBM. Identification of biomarkers capable of directly affecting these cells within the bulk tumor is a major challenge associated with the development of new targeting strategies. In this study, we focus on understanding the potential of the multifunctional extraordinaire survivin as a biomarker for GSCs.

It is composed of the 20S core particle and one or two 19S regulatory particles, composed of a base and a lid. To date, several human diseases have been associated with mutations within the 26S proteasome subunits; only one of them affects a base subunit.

This surgical approach may confer additional advantages over other modalities commonly restricted by patient co-morbidity and anaesthetic concerns. The purpose of this article is to highlight this approach as a potential viable, safe and alternative approach.

This condition is extremely rare with an incidence of 1 per 14,000 and 1 per 31,000 pregnancies in large epidemiologic studies. Majority of these malformed fetuses end up with spontaneous abortions.

The genome contains five different paralogs, which may play an isotype tissue-specific function . One of these genes the gene, which is expressed in a tissue-specific manner, was found to be essential for fly viability and fertility.

It often results from thrombosis or emboli of the vertebral artery or posterior inferior cerebellar artery. The triad of Horner's syndrome, ipsilateral ataxia, and ipsilateral hyperalgesia clinically identify patients with LMS.

We used preterm pigs delivered at gestational day 102 as a translational model for 26-28-week infants to test the hypothesis administering recombinant human keratinocyte growth factor (rhKGF) at initiation of mechanical ventilation will stimulate type II cell proliferation and surfactant production, mitigate ventilator induced lung injury, and reduce epithelial to mesenchymal transition considered as a precursor to BPD. Newborn preterm pigs were intubated and randomized to receive intratracheal rhKGF (20 μg/kg; = 6) or saline (0.

In bristle development, two major actin-bundling proteins-Forked and Fascin-were identified, but still the molecular mechanism by which these actin-bundling proteins and other proteins generate bristle actin bundles is unknown. In this study, we developed a technique that allows recapitulation of bristle actin module organization using the ovary by a combination of confocal microscopy, super-resolution structured illumination microscopy, and correlative light and electron microscope analysis.

We generated a map of phosphorylation sites during the early stages of cardiac postnatal development in mice; we quantified over 10,000 phosphorylation sites and 5000 proteins that were assigned to different pathways. Analysis of mitochondrial proteins led to the identification of PGC-1- and ERR-induced regulator in muscle 1 (PERM1), which is specifically expressed in skeletal muscle and heart tissue and associates with the outer mitochondrial membrane.

In India, PBL is a part of the learning process sparingly followed. Contrary to other institutions, PBL has been introduced in dental curriculum along with the traditional curriculum very recently.

The primary organisms related to dental caries are streptococcus mutans and lactobacilli. In the past decades, some of the non-pathogenic bacteria called probiotics have been added to the food products for the beneficial effect of human health.

The number of referrals in 2017 to the DIS service was established and those admitted to hospital ascertained. Senior doctors examined 30 sets of notes in detail and reached a conclusion on whether DIS had contributed to admission prevention.

Materials And Methods: The study was carried out in 100 surgically managed cleft lip palate children between the ages of 4 years and 15 years. After eliciting a detailed history, a thorough intraoral and extraoral examination was done and details were recorded in a printed proforma with photographs.
Background: Dental caries is the most common chronic disease of children aged 6-11 years. The International Caries Detection and Assessment System-Lesion Activity Assessment (ICDAS-LAA) is a precise tool for the clinical assessment of dental caries by visual appearance, tactile feeling, and potential for plaque accumulation. Ora test is a chairside tool to estimate the ability of acid produced by bacteria to cause demineralization, in a suitable environment.

Parents have an essential role in mediating between their children and environment for which prenatal period is the best time for health interventions. This mediation is done through preventive services they provide to their children such as dietary habits supervision, oral hygiene performance, and other practices that can be enhanced by prenatal dental health education.

Aims: The objective of this study was to assess and record the mercury management and disposal strategies of dental practitioners belonging to the two South Indian states, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Subjects And Methods: A questionnaire regarding the usage and disposal of a filling material containing mercury (amalgam) was designed and distributed online.

Background: Fluoride is needed for the normal development of bone and teeth; in high levels, it affects developing teeth and bone. Dental fluorosis (DF) is caused by ingestion of excess fluoride mainly through drinking water.
Aim: The present study aims to observe and understand the histological changes of fluorosed teeth under light microscope (LM).
Background: For health and well-being, oral health is an integral component. Unfortunately, many children are afflicted with dental caries at an early age, even those as young as 12 months. By imparting knowledge, awareness among parents about this disease can bring about reduction of early childhood caries (ECC) at an early stage.

Aim: The aim is to compare the salivary levels of Bifidobacteria in children who are caries free with that of early childhood caries (ECC) and severe ECC (S-ECC).
Materials And Methods: Saliva was collected using the tongue-loop method from a total of 60 children between the age group of 3-5 years and they were further divided into 3 groups.
Neonatal appendicitis is a rare clinical entity associated with remarkable morbidity and mortality. Appendicular perforation is common and the diagnosis is usually made intra-operatively. The causative etiology of neonatal perforated appendicitis (NPA) is a subject of debate and has not been elucidated.
