Introduction The Sri Lankan economic crisis that began in 2019 led to the suspension of cataract services in many districts. Although humanitarian missions were quick to supply materials, there was a lack of scientific evidence to predict the required intraocular lens power for patients with cataracts. This study aimed to assess the average lens power among patients from Trincomalee district, Sri Lanka, based on sex and age groups.

However, participation of sub-population in the community varies and a significant treatment gap among the elderly population, remains to be addressed. The present study explores the factors influencing the elderly participation in MDA and propose possible solutions to bridge the gap.

She underwent surgical ductal closure following which there was complete resolution of aortic valve gradients without requiring any aortic valve intervention. This case highlights the importance of understanding hemodynamics in efficacious management of congenital heart disease.

Simple CIs for the mean of a two-parameter negative binomial distribution based on some large sample methods are proposed and compared with the likelihood CIs. Proposed CIs are not only simple to compute, but also better than the likelihood CIs for moderate sample sizes.

Complex anatomy, the need for long-term pacing with high rates, and a problematic postoperative period are the major problems.
Methods: We prospectively followed up 22 newborns who underwent PPI below 28 days of life at our institute.
Sulfur undergoes various changes, including the formation of negative charge-bearing lithium polysulfides during the operation of Li-S batteries. Dissolution of some of the polysulfides in battery electrolytes is one of the reasons for the poor performance of Li-S batteries. The charge injection into the sulfur and polysulfides from the electrode is also a problem.

MOFs are a promising addition to the ongoing efforts, however, the relatively poor performance, chemical instability, and large-scale economic production of efficiency-proven pristine MOFs restrict their utility in real-life energy storage applications. Furthermore, hierarchical porosity for lucid mass diffusion, high-density lithiophilic sites are some of the structural parameters for improving the electrode performance.

Engineering the intermetallic nanostructures as an effective bifunctional electrocatalyst for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER) is of great interest in green hydrogen production. However, a few non-noble metals act as bifunctional electrocatalysts, exhibiting terrific HER and OER processes reported to date. Herein the intermetallic nickel-antimonide (Ni─Sb) dendritic nanostructure via cost-effective electro-co-deposition method is designed and their bifunctional electrocatalytic property toward HER and OER is unrevealed.

This study reports the use of Keplerate-type {MoFe} polyoxometalate (POMs) nanostructures as a bi-functional-electrocatalyst for HER and OER in an alkaline medium with a lower overpotential (135 mV for HER and 264 mV for OER), and excellent electrochemical stability. The bi-functional catalytic properties of {MoFe} POM are studied using a scanning electrochemical microscope (SECM) via current mapping using substrate generation and tip collection mode. Furthermore, the bipolar nature of the {MoFe} POM nano-electrocatalysts is studied using the electrochemical gating via simultaneous monitoring of the electrochemical (cell) and electrical ({MoFe} POM) signals.

Aggregation of dyes on TiO has been considered as a detrimental factor for DSSC device performance, which can be controlled by appending alkyl groups to the dye structures. Hence by integrating alkylated (alkyl groups with both in-plane and out-of-plane) aryl group with indoline moiety to make it compatible with other electrolytes and for controlling the dye-aggregation, a series of squaraine acceptor-based dyes SQA4-6 have been designed and synthesized.
