Development and Validation of a Predictive Model to Identify Patients With an Ascending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm.

Background Screening protocols do not exist for ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms (ATAAs). A risk prediction algorithm may aid targeted screening of patients with an undiagnosed ATAA to prevent aortic dissection. We aimed to develop and validate a risk model to identify those at increased risk of having an ATAA, based on readily available clinical information.

Transition From an Open to Closed Staffing Model in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Improves Clinical Outcomes.

Background Several studies have shown improved outcomes in closed compared with open medical and surgical intensive care units. However, very little is known about the ideal organizational structure in the modern cardiac intensive care unit (CICU). Methods and Results We retrospectively reviewed consecutive unique admissions (n=3996) to our tertiary care CICU from September 2013 to October 2017.

Medical Exemption From Disconnection of Utilities in Connecticut.

This study uses data from the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority to describe trends in medical exemptions from utility disconnection and characteristics and health care use of adults applying for such exemptions at a Yale New Haven Hospital care practice between 2011 and 2017.
