Objective: We aimed to characterize the IgE epitopes of Phl p 5a using phage display combined with a molecular modeling approach.
Objective: The transcription factor nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) plays an important role in the inflammatory response following myocardial infarction. We hypothesized that NF-kB-blockade in an animal model of acute ischemia reduces the inflammatory response and therefore attenuates ventricular remodeling.
Methods: Myocardial infarcts (MI) were produced in male Sprague-Dawley rats by ligation of the LAD and followed by adenovirus-mediated intramyocardial delivery of inhibitor kappa Balpha-gene (n=10), the physiological inhibitor of the transcription factor nuclear factor kappa B, respectively, of a beta-gal reporter-gene (n=11).
Of 6,929 consecutive patients who were treated with percutaneous coronary intervention, 1,708 (24.6%) had anemia according to criteria of the World Health Organization. Compared with patients who did not have anemia, those who did have anemia were older, more frequently women and African-American, had a smaller body mass index, and higher frequencies of cardiovascular risk factors and co-morbid conditions.

Methods: Randomized, case-control, and cohort studies comparing access-related complications using ACDs versus mechanical compression were analyzed.
Renal transplant rejection is caused by a lymphocyte-rich inflammatory infiltrate that attacks cortical tubules and endothelial cells. Immunosuppressive therapy reduces the number of infiltrating cells; however, their exit routes are not known. Here a >50-fold increase of lymphatic vessel density over normal kidneys in grafts with nodular mononuclear infiltrates is demonstrated by immunohistochemistry on human renal transplant biopsies using antibodies to the lymphatic endothelial marker protein podoplanin.

Recently, we have demonstrated that overexpressed Cdc25A promoted the survival of rat 423 cells through indirect activation of PKB-protein kinase B. Using a Cdc25A:ER fusion protein, which can be shuttled from the cytoplasm into the nucleus, the present investigation evidences that the antiapoptotic effect of Cdc25A was restricted to its cytoplasmic localisation in rat 423 cells.

Method: An opportunistic sample of 51 participants with brain injury was interviewed about perceptions of service access and effectiveness. An interview guide was used to gather data for this phenomenological qualitative study.
Objective: The question of the present study is whether disturbances of response-selection in schizophrenic patients are discernible only if overt motor-actions are required, or also if covert cognitive actions are necessary.
Method: Visual identification (digits) and classification (dot-enumeration) tasks were presented to 18 drug-naive, first-onset schizophrenic patients and healthy controls. It is assumed that enumeration of more than three dots requires additional cognitive processes as buffering and re-focusing of attention.
