Musculoskeletal pain is a global public health problem. Social marketing aims to increase adoption of desired behaviours in target audiences and may uncover new strategies to improve uptake of helpful pain-related behaviours at the population-level. We systematically evaluated effects of contemporary mass media campaigns targeting musculoskeletal pain and used social marketing benchmarking to explore strategies associated with campaign success.

Disease burden and healthcare utilization in pediatric low-grade glioma: A United States retrospective study of linked claims and electronic health records.

Background: Despite high long-term survival rates, pediatric low-grade gliomas (pLGGs) are linked with significant tumor- and treatment-associated morbidities that may persist throughout life. The aims of this descriptive cross-sectional pilot study were to characterize health conditions among a cohort of patients with pLGG and explore the feasibility of quantifying disease burden and healthcare resource utilization (HRU).

Methods: Optum Market Clarity Data were used to identify patients aged ≤18 years with an ICD-10 code for brain neoplasm, ≥1 physician notes, and with evidence of pLGG recorded between January 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018.

Previous research suggests even short delays in the arrival of a predictable, desired outcome can lead to negative welfare outcomes for animals. As such, providing reliable information to animals regarding the onset of important events may be a simple but useful method to support positive welfare.

Superfluid helium nanodroplets are an ideal environment for the formation of metastable, self-organized dopant nanostructures. However, the presence of vortices often hinders their formation. Here, we demonstrate the generation of vortex-free helium nanodroplets and explore the size range in which they can be produced.

Developing a triage predictive model for access to a spinal surgeon using clinical variables and natural language processing of radiology reports.

Purpose: To utilize natural language processing (NLP) of MRI reports and various clinical variables to develop a preliminary model predictive of the need for surgery in patients with low back and neck pain. Such a model would be beneficial for informing clinical practice decisions and help reduce the number of unnecessary surgical referrals, streamlining the surgical process.

Methods: A case-control study was conducted using workers' compensation data on injured workers undergoing rehabilitation programs for concurrent MSI and PTSI (cases) and MSI only (controls). A Quantitative Approach for Using Anticipatory Behavior as a Graded Welfare Assessment.

Using Crowd-Sourced Data to Assess the Temporal and Spatial Relationship between Indoor and Outdoor Particulate Matter.

Using hourly measures across a full year of crowd-sourced data from over 1000 indoor and outdoor pollution monitors in the state of California, we explore the temporal and spatial relationship between outdoor and indoor particulate matter (PM) concentrations for different particle sizes. The scale of this study offers new insight into both average penetration rates and drivers of heterogeneity in the outdoor-indoor relationship. We find that an increase in the daily outdoor PM concentration of 10% leads to an average increase of 4.

Comparison of Healthcare Costs Associated With Patients Receiving Traditional Negative Pressure Wound Therapies in the Post-Acute Setting.

Objective A retrospective national insurance claims database analysis evaluated total and wound-related costs for acute and chronic wound patients treated with negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), comparing a product specific NPWT (NPWT-K) to other NPWT systems (NPWT-O). Methods Patients with one or more NPWT claims between January 2016 and September 2018 in an outpatient setting with continuous medical and pharmacy benefits for six months before the initial (index) NPWT claims and 12 months post index were assessed. Background In the light of a high rate of distant recurrence and poor compliance of adjuvant chemotherapy in high risk rectal cancer patients the total neoadjuvant treatment was logical approach to gaining acceptance. Here, we consider how intentional and unintentional signals provided by caretakers can inform our assessment of animals' well-being as well as help to support it. As a result of the adiabatic expansion of the laser-produced, fully inner-ionized nanoplasma, delocalized electrons in the deep confining mean field potential are shifted towards the vacuum level. Meanwhile, part of the electrons localize in bound levels of the helium ions.

Transplant Energize Me Patient Outcome (TEMPO): A Quality Improvement Project that Maintains Functional Mobility in Pediatric Patients Admitted for Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation.

Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) remains the definite cure for many pediatric hematologic diseases but causes profound deconditioning, which impairs daily physical functioning and may lead to further health complications. The Transplant Energize Me Patient Outcome (TEMPO) project is a standard-of-care, quality improvement (QI) project whose primary objective is to maintain physical functional mobility and strength throughout admission for pediatric allogeneic HCT patients. Specifically, TEMPO incorporates individualized and developmentally appropriate exercises and activities that are administered by a multidisciplinary team, who objectively measure and record a patient's physical stamina at predetermined frequencies.
