A mathematical model of delayed luminescence was devised. It is based on the description of primary photosynthetic reactions, which takes the donor and acceptor parties of photosystem II and the electrochemical gradient on thylakoid membranes into account. The model was used for the theoretical analysis of the mechanisms of changes in delayed luminescence characteristics, induced by variation potentials.

The responses of delayed luminescence included two stages, which probably occur by different mechanisms.

Design: Retrospective study.
Setting: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Medical Faculty of Charles University, Pilsen.
Problem: The humoral immune response to phospholipids was investigated in women with reproductive failure [1073 women after one in vitro fertilization (IVF), 853 women after two and more IVF, 627 women after three and more repeated spontaneous miscarriages or missed abortions, 412 women after diagnostic laparoscopy] and compared with that of 391 healthy fertile women.
Method Of Study: Sera from all women in the study were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of IgG, IgA, and IgM isotypes of antibodies against seven phospholipids (aPLs), i.e.
Objective: Determination of aPLs in ovulatory mucus and in seminal plasma in 18 infertile couples (women, median age 33.2, range 28-39 years; men, median age 36.4, range 29-46 years) with repeated unexplained miscarriages (four to nine spontaneous abortions).

Nonspecific immunological factors such as lysozyme, C3c, alpha-1 antitrypsin and beta-2 microglobulin were significantly higher in 14% of infertile men.

The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the presence of antiphospholipid (APL) antibodies and other autoantibodies in women with unexplained recurrent miscarriage was associated with particular human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DR or -DQ alleles or linked epitopes which have previously been reported as being associated with the recurrent miscarriage syndrome or the presence of APL. In a total of 123 Danish and Czech women with recurrent miscarriage, serum was investigated for six different APL antibodies including anticardiolipin (ACL) antibody.

Objective: To compare the peritoneal and serum levels of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) against the following phospholipids: cardiolipin, L-alpha-phosphatidic acid, L-alpha-phosphatidylethanolamine, 1-alpha-phosphatidyl-DL-glycerol, L-alpha-phosphatidyl-inositol, L-alpha-phosphatidyl-L-serine in immunoglobulin isotypes of G, M, and secretory A.
Patients And Methods: A group of 107 women with primary infertility were immunologically examined. An ELISA method was used for detection of aPLs.
The authors investigated antiphospholipid antibodies (APA) against phosphatidic acid, ph-ethanolamine, ph-DL-glycerol, ph-inositol, ph-L-serine and cardiolipine in isotypes IgG and IgM in various diagnoses associated with reproduction. They found that the most varied pattern of high levels of these antibodies is in particular in patients with the diagnosis of intractable infertility (in 26.5% women IgG against cardiolipine, in 24.

In a woman suffering from IgE myeloma, hay fever and polyvalent respiratory and skin allergy the IgE monoclonal protein VL was isolated and investigated with respect to structural and functional properties. The amino acid sequence of 22 isolated peptides--especially of the biologically significant C2-C3 part--corresponded with that originally described by Bennich et al. (Immunol Rev 1978;41:3-23; Prog Immunol 1974;13:49-58).

Methods And Results: Colostrum was collected from the 1st to 3rd day after delivery, milk on the 4th to 19th day after delivery. Colostrum from 42 and milk from 63 mothers was examined.
The paper is concerned with the consideration of technical potentialities of local UHF-hyperthermia with regard to combined radiotherapy of endometrial cancer. The authors performed comparative analysis of thermoradiotherapy of a tumor and adjacent normal tissues and of combined radiotherapy as an independent method. The results of this investigation have shown that a decrease in a single focal dose per fraction, taking into account the DMF of hyperthermia in thermoradiotherapy, the same therapeutic effect on a tumor being preserved like in radiotherapy, reduces the frequency of radiation reactions of adjacent normal organs and tissues.

The patient was treated without success by condom therapy, general and local immunosuppression. Therefore treatment by means of membrane separation plasmapheresis was started during two preovulation periods.

In experiments on 796 white rats the role was studied of various neurotransmitter systems (choline-, adreno-, serotonin-, dopamine-, and GABA-ergic) in regulation of processes of engrams reproduction, determined by tests of conditioned passive- and active-defensive reactions in comparison with changes of spontaneous motor activity and oriented reaction. Correlations are analyzed between the changes of animals behavioural reactions in conditions of pharmacological control of activity of the studied neurotransmitter systems.

Etimizol was shown to relieve amnesia effectively in the origin of which there is the hypoxic component (hypobaric hypoxia, actinomycin D, mechanical injury of the brain). The advantage of etimizol as compared to other nootropics with similar action (meclofenoxate, piracetam) is its high effectiveness at a single administration.

The authors presented 5-year results of combined radiation therapy of 217 patients with stage I-II cervical cancer using 60Co high energy sources on the Agat-B unit for intracavitary irradiation. Intracavitary therapy with fractions of 10 and 5 Gy was compared. No significant correlation was found between a therapeutic effect and a fraction value.

GABA-mimetics (muscimol, baclofen, aminooxyacetic acid) as well as GABA system antagonists (bicuculline, thiosemicarbazide) attenuated ketamine action at the level of DH and especially FC.

The effect of systemic administration of agonists and antagonists of GABA system on excitability and intracentral relationships of the brain structures was found during chronic experiments on rabbits with bipolar electrodes implanted in the region of the frontal cortex, dorsal hippocampus, midbrain reticular formation and central gray matter. The changes of the functional state of the cerebral formations were suggested to be related to a different degree of the involvement of GABA receptors of types A and B.

In conditions of stimulation of adrenergic mechanisms with ephedrine, there was an improvement of the memory engrams reproduction (MER). Blockade of the alpha-adrenergic system by pyrroxan more expressively impeded reproduction of a passive defensive habit in comparison with the action of a beta-adrenolytic, the obsidan. Stimulation of MER processes was accompanied by a parallel activation of glucose-6-phosphate- and 6-phosphategluconatedehydrogenases of pentose path in the tissues of the frontal area of the cerebral cortex and pons Varolii.
