We aimed to assess if heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback could improve neurocardiac function in CIP.
Methods: We randomly allocated (1:1) patients with electrophysiologically confirmed CIP undergoing early inpatient neurological rehabilitation to additional HRV or sham biofeedback over 14 days.
Gut microbiota-derived metabolites play a pivotal role in the maintenance of intestinal immune homeostasis. Here, we demonstrate that the human commensal possesses a specific metabolic fingerprint, consisting predominantly of the tryptophan catabolite indole-3-propionic acid (IPA), the branched-chain acids (BCFAs) isobutyrate and isovalerate and the short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) acetate and propionate. Mono-colonization of germ-free mice with (CS mice) affected colonic mucosal immune cell phenotypes, including up-regulation of gene expression, and increased abundance of transcriptionally active colonic tuft cells and Foxp3 regulatory T cells (Tregs).

We analyzed complete and nationwide data for Germany, a country with a large intensive care sector, before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: Analysis of administrative claims data, provided by the German health insurance, from all hospitals for all individual patients who were mechanically ventilated between 2019 and 2022.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to examine differences in sex distribution and clinical outcomes in patients with myocarditis of various ages.
Methods: Patients with acute or chronic myocarditis in 3 centers in Berlin, Germany from 2005 to 2021 and in the United States (National Inpatient Sample) from 2010 to 2019 were included.
Background: Pressure distribution in the ankle joint is known to be dependent on various factors, including hindfoot alignment. We seek to evaluate how hindfoot alignment affects contact pressures in the ankle joint in the setting of supination external rotation (SER) type ankle fractures.
Methods: SER fractures were created in 10 human cadaver lower extremity specimens, simulating progressive stages of injury: without fracture (step 0), SER fracture and intact deltoid ligament (step 1), superficial deltoid ligament disruption (step 2), and deep deltoid ligament disruption (step 3).
